The iphone screen is divided in half and has a connection for each.
Have you had the phone apart recently? if so you may have a loose connection on the LCD
If not you LCD could have just gone bad.
Is your phone under warranty?
If you have Apple Care, call the local apple store and take the phone to them. They will probably give you a replacement under warranty.
If it is not under warranty, find a local cell phone tech and have the LCD replaced or replace it yourself.
The 3G is fairly easy to work on if your really really careful getting the Front Glass off.

If hard resetting and restoring it doesn't work you have a broken LCD screen. There is an iphone repair website that shows you how to replace the screen yourself.

I dropped my iphone on the floor and there is sound coming from it but the screen is completely black, Will i have to buy a new screen?

Hi!

If your screen is not having a crack on it then there is a possibility that it can work again.

But if it has a crack then you need to buy a new screen.

Hope it helps..

Thank you for reaching Fixya.

Half of my iphone touch screen doesn't work.. please help. thank you

Hello. You have 2 things to try. Firstly a reset. This will just re-boot your phone with all of the data still on it. Hold the top right power button with the round home button until iphone turns off and you see the apple logo, then release buttons. Iphone will take 1 or 2 mins to re-boot.

If this does not work, often a complete reset will work. Sync your iphone to your computer so that you have all of your apps, contacts, settings etc backed up, then go to settings, general and reset all settings. This will give you a clean slate to start from and you can sync the iphone to your computer to get back all your essential data.

Hope this helps and if so please vote.

Thanks

Jim

IPhone touch screen not working

I have the same exact problem. I dropped mine, and it landed half on concrete, half on a piece of foam board, and when I got to shut mine off, it will slide to power off, but will not slide to do anything else. Everything works perfectly fine, people calling me, texting me, nothing is broken or cracked, I can't even unlock mine, it's stuck and it's making me very upset! I want an answer as to what I can do and or can't do.
