Question about Solid Audio Formula Series F45 4-Channel Amplifier Car Audio Amplifier

1 Answer

Interference I made the mistake of leaving the Sub wires from the amp lying bare. After I reconnected the Sub I get a bad bass interference when the engine is running. Is there a grounding component screwed? Thanks Hondakondriak

I just hooked up my RF 325.1 Amp to my Sony CDX-M30 deck and a small 10" Alpine Sub in a small box. I ran the wiring according to the install instructions for the Amp, but I am getting a very loud...

the reason for the 3' min. on your ground cable is that interference is picked up with longer gound cables. Especially if it passes close to any electrical components, e.g. spark plugs, capacitors, anything with electrical current. These signals are amplified within the amp. (because this is what amps do) and distributed to your speakers. you could try a noise filter / noise suppressor but I've never had luck with those. You could also try finding a metal part of the frame (if there are any) and attach your ground to a bolt along that frame and if your more advanced you could create a hole and use a screw to tighten the ground to the frame. Small note to that, boats create a lot of vibration so use a ground screw with a sort of tooth like seration at the head that grips as it tightens (so it won't come lose). If you have an extra battery you may want to attach the amp directly to an independant power source to see if your getting the same hum. A direct short in your electrical system will create the same sounds. A bad ground your electrical system will do this also. You may also want to check you high and low band pass frequencies if applicable. Set them to high and you'll get a hum. I would start there adjusting them down or setting them to the center and adjust accordingly if this stops the hum. I'm running 4200 watts all together and if I adjust to high I get interference just from the force of the amp itself. Good luck. Hate electrical problems on vehicles, too many wires.

it sounds like you have a short someplace. also, if you have a multimeter, check the voltage coming out of the speaker terminals of the amplifier. if the voltage is higher than 4 or 5 volts, the amp is probably bad.

How can avoid interference of radio stations in the Amplifier?

Well if it is a humming noise (also can kinda sound like a turbo whining)

its more than likely a bad ground on your headunit or amp check that the amps ground is put on a solid part of your cars metal and get some sand paper and get the paint off before u ground it

other things to check before u go out and buy a filter is
check that the person who installed your stereo/amp DIDNT run the POWER for the amp next to the RCA leads or speaker wire this can cause alot of interferance too and isnt recomended at all .. power wire should be run on the other side of the car to the speaker wire and rca leads

if that fails to rid the interference you can go to anygood car audio store and ask for a filter for the rca leads and also a ground and power filter to elimantae annoying interference

also check that your airal is grounded correctly to the body of ur car over time it can become loose or corrode

hope this helps

Bare wire sub to single RCA jack receiver

Yes you can modify RCA cables to make bare wire tails.
If the unit has a sub o/p then you just connect up your sub bass unit to whatever the amp needs.

An RCA cable is 2 wire which is all you would normally need for sub bass speaker level signal.
It may be a good idea to eventually upgrade the wire size if you want really good sub bass as lower frequencies draw more current and so require more copper.

Please let me know if this any help, thanks for using FixYa.

Amp is on, but sub wont produce any bass

Make sure the subwoofer is set to low frequency, make sure subwoofer and bass are enabled on the headdeck. Make sure the gain is turned up on the amp, make sure the rcas haven't come out of the back of the head deck.

Sub woofers and amp

first of all is the amp a four way amp? if so then you need to know what the watts of the subs are (you dont want to melt them) wire + and - of channels 1 and 2 to one sub and + and - of channel 3 and 4 to second sub, nice thick lead from battery positive (fused) to positive terminal on amp thick lead from a good earth point to negative terminal on amp run a set of rca leads down the opposte side to the positive wire to prevent interference, run thin wire from remote wire of radio to the remote terminal of amp, rca's are plugged in at stereo and at the am. may need a RCA splitter to be able to power all four channels

Good luck Davelee

Outta phase? if a tweeter is out will make sub distort?

A Tweeter being out of phase should not have any effect on the sub.

If one tweeter is out of phase with the other there will still be sound in the room as due to the high frequency the unequal time to your ear will mean you won't get perfect destructive interference and the signals won't cancel. Also the two tweeter signals convey much less information in common than a subwoofer or bass speaker.

Andrew
