I have an Ionic Pro Air Purifier CA-500 and over the past 6 months or so it has gathered up a web of dust and and yuck stuff inside the case and there is no way to disassemble. I can take out the blades and clean those, but as soon as I turn it on, they begin to slowly attract all the dust that is already in the Ionic Pro. It is gross in there, i can see little flies and hair and thick blankets of dust. I don't care if my warranty is ruined, I just want to know how to clean that out.
This unit is a pain in the @$$ to disassemble but it CAN be done. The way I always look at it: Someone ASSEMBLED it.
Remove the four screws on the bottom stand followed by two screws on the bottom side of the unit. Then remove the tiny little screws up each side that hold the grill together (you will need a precision screwdriver).
Carefully pull apart- don't force it.
One half comes off (clean that half) in bathtub. The other half does not come off-vacuum that half out and use q-tips.
When re-assembling, watch for two things: First the wire cleaner (that slides) runs on a track on each half- pull it out a little to best allow for fitting. Second, there are little tabs at the top that fit under the control panel-watch for those.
email me at [email protected] if any problems.
If after cleaning the unit inside and it still doesn't work...get your frustration out by hitting it a few times...slide the blades in and out, hit the top...it worked for me! Now it works again!!
Take it outside and blast it with compressed air.
Took mine apart and found one of the ionizing wires broken and missing about 3 inches of if.
Have you tried blowing some canned air through the unit? You can find it in the computer department in any store. Do it outside.
I got mine apart and clean it with rubbing alcohol and it working better

After cleaning with soapy water the brown substance still will not come off. My husband smokes so I run it at all times. Please give me a solution to use to clean this sticky substance off the blades
