  • bdmark May 24, 2009

Thanks for trying. I cant reset settings, because as lens wont come out there is no image on screen.

Just black. Thought it may have been a minor problem, so will ring camera house where it came from.

Hi,

Samsung Cameras have a user adjustable automatic shutoff feature which turns the camera off after a period of inactivity to prevent unnecessary battery drainage.
If your camera turns off too frequently, you can change the shutoff time or turn off the shutoff feature entirely. To change the automatic shutoff settings, follow these steps:

To select the settings; access the Setup option in the Cameras Menu (pictured below).

  1. Turn your camera on.
  2. Press the Menu button.
  3. Press the directional pad left-right until you've highlighted the Setup menu.
  4. Press the directional pad up-down until you've highlighted Power Off.
  5. Press the directional pad left-right to access the Power Off sub menu.
  6. Press the directional pad up-down until you've highlighted the shutoff time you desire, or you've highlighted off.
NOTE: If the battery is charged, the camera should power on and stay on provided there is activity. If the camera continues to power off on it's own, it will require service which you can arrange by calling samsung.

I hope this would help you to fix the issue.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Do rate the solution as "Fixya" if 100% satisfied.
  1. Press the OK button.

There's a possibility that the auto power off is set accidentally. In order for you to check it, connect the camera to the computer and turn the camera ON. At this stage, the camera should not turn off automatically because it's connected to the PC.

Then check the settings and make sure to turn off the Auto power off. If same problem persist after changing the settings.

Upgrade the software of the camera.

Good luck!

Lens motor stalled.
Checkout the price of a repair at Samsung suppor.

Had this happen with the lens stuck in the retracted position. Rapped the camera on my palm to jostle the lens a bit, turned it on and back to normal.

Lens stays out- "Bip Bip" when i turn it on but no other reaction

If the camera has recently been dropped you may have lens damage that's preventing it from powering up. If it hasn't been dropped your problem may be due to weak/worn out batteries or corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera - which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then clean the battery contacts, place the batteries back in the camera and give them a full charge (assuming that you're using rechargeable batteries). This cleaning clears the problem about 80% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, it may time to replace the batteries, or the camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.

Samsung L100 digital camera beep problem

If the lens is retracted, hold up the camera to your eye and look at the lens. If you see one end sticking out a little bit, push that side in and press the power button. It should work.
If the lens isn't retracted, push the lens around until it is in its regular position. When you press the power button, it will retract and come out again and should work fine.

Hope this advice helps!

My Samsung won't turn on :(

Try to move the lens a bit or straighten it out, that usually works when it makes the three beep sounds.

you've misaligned the lens barrel I think. there's not much you can do to solve this short of a repair, which generally outweighs the price of the camera, due to the insane price of the individual parts. You can try realigning the lens barrel by doing what you did the first time.

Samsung's have notorious problems with their lens-cap shutters malfunctioning. This seems to be the case with yours. It will have to be serviced, I'm afraid.
