It could be the power supply board. Have you tried turning on the laptop while the power adapter is connected to it? If not, try that one to see if that will work.

If you get the same problem, the best thing that you could do is to actually take it back to Acer and have it repaired. Because it could be the power supply or the ON/OFF power button only. There are several things that you need to consider.

Have a good day!

I'm regretfully informing you that it's the only thing that we could do. You may require a new computer if the computer is still under the warranty.

    Good luck!

Acer Aspire One D255-2256 will boot and shut down but when shut off screen turns white until I unplug AC Adapter. I can power back up and boots but when shut down as long as AC adapter is plugged in screen...

Graphics chip may have failed. If screen is white there is no information being sent to the screen, but the backlight is working fine. The Graphics chip may not be replaced, but the motherboard replacement is the usual fix for this issue. There may also be a loose cable beneath the case above the keyboard, which connects the screen to the motherboard.

My laptop wont turn on, last night it got hot and shut off cud i have fried it?acer model#nal10

It is unlikely that you have fried anything. When they begin to overheat most computers will turn themselves off to protect themselves to prevent this happenning.

If you leave the laptop to cool down completely while un plugged and then plug it back in it should be fine!

My l100 wont turn on the power lead is connected but it just wont come on

Sounds like a power supply issue. Replace it and it should work. If not then the motherboard is the problem.

Laptop shutdown while in use. Plugged in to power source but would not restart. When power button is pressed, laptop comes to life for 2 to 5 seconds and then goes dead again. What could cause this?

If you let it sit unused for hours, would it work properly for a while? It sounds like it is overhaeting. So when it shutsdown and you try and turn it back on, it wont becuase it is too hot. But if you let it sit for a while it will turn on for longer because it has had time to cool down.

If this is the case then it's just overhaeting. Could be caused by a bad fan, or the fan could be clogged with dust. Try these steps to determine if it is overhaeting or not.

If it wont turn on again AT ALL ever, only 2 to 5 seconds no matter what, then you probably fried something. Try taking out one of your memory sticks.... and then Hard Drive. See if it works. Something on the motherboard could have fried if it still wont turn on.

Try taking out the battery for a few minutes, then jsut turn it on with the A/C only. Do some troubleshooting to determine what might be the problem.

Hi, My ACER Aspire 5315 keep switching off from time to time. I tried taking the battery out, but the problem persists. I don't think I have a virus, but who knows. Any ideas

Your charger is going bad causing the intermittent shut offs. Buy a new charger before it fails completely has a power spike and fries your motherboard.
