Check the lamp access door and make sure that it is completely closed. There are interlocks that prevent the unit from starting if the door is open. Also, it is possible that the move damaged the lamp as they are extremely fragile especially when older. If the door is not the problem, try replacing the lamp.

Update this if neither option resolves the problem.

Thanks,
Dan

SOURCE: I have a Hitachi 70 inch lcd rear projection tv

This is a well described problem with model #. Thanks for that. Now it could be a tv lamp at the end of its life if the tv lamp is around two years old. Its easy to change lamps and the procedure is explained in owner's manual. If the lamp was replaced recently or the problem stays even after changing the tv lamp, its the optical block going bad. That need professional help and you should not try to mess with it. Check out at www.fixurtvs.com These repairs could be expensive and may be wiser to go in for another TV.

This is more likely to be an issue with your power supply not being able to supply the correct voltage to a certain board all the time. Most likely bad/aging capacitors. You could probably find a new repalcement power supply board on line. Check with Shop Jimmy, they may have one fairly cheep.

You got an issue with overheating.  TV is designed to shut off to protect electronic components if TV overheats.  Take it to the shop and have them open this thing up to identify the faulty circuit.  Also, check to make sure your not blocking the heat vents.

My Hitachi 70" LCD will not turn on

Take the door back off and look for a safety tab somewhere on the door that will activate a small safety switch, the tab will stick out. Maybe you broke the tab off or just didnt get the door on correctly. Try that and let me know.

Won't turn on?

You need to check the lamp itself, sometimes they just blow up like a bulb does and if the lamp is good make sure all the fans are running and all compartments are close properly like where the lamp sits.Set needs to be unplug from the wall while you check. The wainting is not acceptable for 3 months.Let Us know if you need more information.
