I have a sony trinitron wega - I know it is old but it is still great -- I need some advise on getting a pvr -- what should I look for

Actually, the TV is only a display device. It's just there to show you the picture from the PVR, and you're free to pick any model PVR with the features you want and a price you like. The only thing you need to be concerned about is connecting the PVR to the set.

Your Sony should have audio and video input jacks on the rear panel. (I'm assuming you have a Sony since your question is posted under that heading, but that's not always the case.) Almost every model has at least one set. These older models usually only offer composite video input with a single yellow RCA jack, and a pair of jacks (red and white) for stereo audio input. When you pick a PVR, just be sure it has a composite video output available. I haven't seen one yet that doesn't, but there a lot of models out there. If your model also happens to provide a component video input (with three RCA jacks, colored red, green and blue), that's even better. Component video gives better performance, and it's a standard output on PVRs and other video devices.

All you need to do is connect the PVR video output to the TV and select that input. You can connect the audio output to the TV, or use your home stereo receiver and speakers instead if you have a system. This might give you enhanced sound performance.

If your TV is a model not equipped with AV inputs (true for some very basic models, especially smaller screen sizes), you'll need an RF modulator. The TV can only pick up signals from its tuner, and that's where the modulator comes in. It takes the video and audio from the PVR and makes a channel 3 or 4 signal to the TV's antenna input. You might find a PVR with a modulator built in, but that's pretty rare now.

I am watching my 14 days old JVC 21"TV but

Your TVs power supply regulator section has got some trouble with it, that is why power indicator doesn't light up. You have purchased it only fourteen days back, surely there will be warranty for it. Do not open the TV. The company will give no concession if the set is opened. Send it to the authorised service center and get it repaired. Some power supply faults may fatal, and may have to spend more. Since your TV is a new model, spare part availability in the open market may be difficult. Send it to them and let them do the work. OK.

It doesn't work on my ps3 no picture only audio

If it works on other televisions, than the video cord must be good. Is the television on the right input channel? If it is, the video input may be bad. You should test the video input with a dvd player or vcr. You can always plug ps3 into a vcr, and vcr up to televison.

How do i Connect RCA VCR to Dynex 20" 480i tv

Ok yellow is always the video signel! and if you have a stereo vcr there should be yellow/red/white the red/ white are audio left and right! if your vcr is in mono then there will only be a yellow/white just use them and let the other red one hang free because it is not needed...if there are other color codes on your model just remember yellow is always the video(picture) the other are for sound and it does not matter where you plug them in at! If you have a black wire just use it in any audio input (red/white)
I hpoes this helps! if you need more help come see us

When Turned on the Screen says ''Locked''

Please post the model of your TV. 0711 is a default code to access the blocking menu items on some Phillips TVs. have you tried changing the channel. maybe it's just the one channel is blocked. More likely the TV may be in a blocked mode. If you have the manual there should be instructions to reset the blocked mode. There are manuals online. Use Google or any other search and type in your model number and "manual."
