Re: onboard mic in hp dv9535

Go to the control panel and click on the sound icon
click on the recording tab , click on the mic then the properties
then click on the levels tab
increase the level then apply
test the record
then adjust level until you are happy.
not the mic level on the record tab will go green if so you are picking up back ground .

I have documents written on Vista which I wanted to transfer to an older laptop with XP - they came up looking like a russian weather report. Will the two machines talk to each other or must I uninstall...

You should be able to save the documents generated under Vista based software into a format compatible with the XP version of the software. Open the document in Vista and check the options to "Save As" and select the format that is downward compatible with your XP version document software.
Let me know if you have any other problems or questions. Thanks.

Wipe out all apps and programs, reload Vista.

You need to format your hard drive, then do clean installation of Windows Vista (I recommend Windows 7). If you are living in London/UK I can help.

I brought a microphone thats vista compatable and it wont work

Perhaps you need new drivers on either your mic, Or sound card. Is this mic your using USB or have a normal 3.5mm plug?

Try updating some drivers. Hope this helps!

Recording Issues In Vista

Microsoft moved the particular option that you need to enable since Windows XP, and have also changed its default to MUTE.

To hear what is playing through MIC IN...

  • Go to Control Panel and select "Sound"
  • Under the "Playback" tab, double click on your enabled speakers.
  • Select the "levels" tab, and look for "Mic In Volume".
  • Click once on the speaker icon that is muted to un-mute it.
I really hope that this has solved your problem, if it has not, please let me know and I will do my best to help you further. Good Luck!

Microphone Problem with Vista

Do you Have Any settings Via Control Panel Or Similar, to check to see if the mic isn,t Muted ?
I,m not too up on Vista but have experience With 95/98/2000 And XP.
I,d also assume that there is Troubleshooting facility with Vista.
Also Is the microphone plugged into the correct Jack/Socket ?
