To install the driver use the CD ROM of your motherboard or run windows update, if the driver is available on Microsoft servers it will download and install.

Sounds like you lost your driver if you cleaned out your hard drive & didn't save a copy. Try going online & search for the driver & download it, I would save a copy, maybe on a disc or floppy.

Xp has been installed but i have no sound or visual

Hello,

Thank you for using fixya.

I want to verify if you have already installed the drivers for your computer. Without the drivers, your computer will not work fine. It will lack sound, and the video is not really that good. These are the first things that you can observe in your computer after you reinstall it.

Enable for you to install the drivers, you need to insert the Drivers and Utilities disc (it came with your computer when you bought it) in the cd/dvd drive of your computer. It will run automatically. Just follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.

However, if you don't have the DRIVERS AND UTILITIES disc. Visit the website of toshiba. You can find the available drivers for your computer there. Just click: http://www.toshiba.com/tai/support.jsp

Why does system often hang?

Many reasons,
Lack of memory when trying to multitask.
Lack of space on your hard drive.
Malware
Too many programs running from boot up.

I would advise using Malwarebytes to scan for nasties.
CCleaner to wipe temp files / clean your registry / remove unwanted startup items.
Auslogics disc defreg with screensaver add on
All these are free and should have your computer running much smoother

Network adaptor and lack of sound

It sounds like you need to install the drivers for your NIC and your sound card.
Since you won't be able to connect to the internet with that computer until you have the NIC drivers, you will have to download them from a different computer, and copy them to a memory stick (pen drive) and then load them into your computer.

You will need to know the type of network card and sound card you have to be able to download the correct drivers.
