Sir,my pc has an slot for webcam.but i cant access it.errow showing no webcam.please mention if i have athe webcam or not my model no is-HP G56 XG603UA ABA NOTEBOOK PC

The HP G56 laptop model has a webcam installed "On Select" systems, meaning you MAY or MAY NOT have one. Many laptop computers with webcams "On Select" systems will have the slot for a webcam, or appear to have a webcam, even if they do not. It's for no other reason than standardization of the laptop case; the screen bezel to be exact.
An easy way to check if your computer has a webcam (Or may it be the case that it's simply a slot where a webcam could be placed) if you have a Facebook account try this:
Sign into Facebook. View your own profile. Select upload photo, and select "Upload from Webcam".
Facebook's built in webcam support will initialize a webcam even if the proper software is not installed on your computer.
You can also go to the "Start" menu, select "Run", type in "DEVMGMT.MSC", hit enter. This is a list off all installed devices on your computer; You should find your webcam here.

I'm trying to connect my hp EliteBook webcam on ooVoo and I cannot. Is it possible that my webcam is not working at all?

Hi.

Based on the information you have provided, the issue might be due to the Webcam Driver or the settings.

However, in order to check if the Webcam is working fine, please try using the Webcam with any other Messenger Applications such as Skype, Yahoo etc.,

Also, please check if the Webcam Driver is mentioned in the Device Manager.

Please follow the below steps to check if the Webcam Driver is installed in the Computer.

1) Please press the "Windows Logo" and "R" keys simultaneously.
2) This should open the Run command window.
3) In the Run command window, please type "devmgmt.msc" and press Enter.
4) This will open the Device Manager window.
5) In the Device Manager window, please click on "Imaging Devices" and check if the Webcam Driver is listed under it.

By doing this we can confirm if the Webcam Driver is installed correctly.

Please perform the above steps and let me know the results.

Hope this helps.

Please feel free to contact for further information and assistance.

Copy this site and paste it in your web browser, then when you get on the site, select your product and download your driver for your webcam.

http://www.a4tech.com/ennew/downloads.asp

Use the quick product locator then select "Web Cameras"
Then under "Downloads," in the drop down, "Select"
the model number.
Also when it asks you for your Windows Operating System, be sure to select the right one.

Then after completing the download do this.
Disconnect the Camera from the USB port and reinstall the CD or Downloaded software program. When the program asks you to connect the camera
to the USB port, do so and it should work.
Then to use it on the Web, do this.
Web Camera's have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to
broadcast on messengers or Skype.

Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.

A. Skype Setup:
After downloading and installing Skype

http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/windows/beta/downloading/

Then click on the Video Settings.
The camera, if Installed Properly, it will come up and show a video picture.

Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on " "Action."
Go to "TOOLS" and click "Audio and Video Setting" and follow the instructions.
NOTE: Your audio and video should work. Enjoy.
When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.

D. AIM (AOL) Messenger:

http://dashboard.aim.com/aim

On the VIM sign-in window click on Edit.
Then click on Settings Enhanced IM.
Next click on Enhanced IM.

2. The Audio and Video Tuning Wizard will appear to help you verify that your camera, speakers and microphone are working
Properly. Follow the on-screen prompts.

What do I click on to operate the web cam?

When you install a webcam to a PC there are two items that are installed. Firstly the driver for the camera and secondly the program to run this webcam. In laptops that have a webcam built in these two items are provided to you as default. Unless your model does not have an integrated webcam, in which case you have to attach an external one.
If you want to use the webcam in isolation then you use the webcam program and make videos and also single snap shots. But if you want to use it with an Instant Messenger (like Skype, MSN, Yahoo Messenger etc) then you have to configure the IM to use this webcam as default and whenever you are on Video Call, then on its own the IM will use this webcam when it gets connected to the other party.
