You can connect your iPod to laptop through a USB cable. If you mean you laptop can recognize your iPod, you can follow these steps to fix the problem.
1. Try another USB cord or USB cable.
2. Restrart your computer for a try.
3. Reset or restore your iPod for a try, this way can fix many general iPod problems.
4. Update your iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod.
5. You may try this iPod transfer, it's a nice iTunes alternative that can help you upload music and video to iPod, I always use it to sync my iPod when my iTunes can't recognize my iPod, it's easy to use and works pretty well

I plugged my iPod into my laptop to charge it and it wont turn on and its just a blank black screen

1. Reset or restore your iPod for a try, this can fix many general iPod problems. 2. You may try this iTunes alternative, I always use it to upload music and video to my iPod once my iTunes can't recognize my iPod, my friends recommend it to me, it's safe and works pretty well, you can also use it to copy music and video from ipod to computer for backup, it's useful when you lost your iTunes library. http://www.ipod-transfer-copy.com/ipod-transfer-mediawidget.html 3. Update your iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod. I got this method from Apple technical support. Hope it helps. My ipod touch freezes while restoring in itunes. I first upgraded itunes to itune 10. Then I tried to restore. It just freezes 1 minute into the restore. Now what??

Thanks for contacting Fixya Support, I am glad to assist.

I cases where your iPod Touch is freezing, especially during a restore , there could be a variable of issues which may be causing this issue to occur.

If you have previously installed any 3rd party plug-ins for your iTunes prior to your iTunes 10 upgrade, that can potentially affect the functionality of your iTunes with the newer iTunes version 10.

Apple recommends troubleshooting such an issue by first removing those iTunes 3rd party plug-ins as well as the preference files for iTunes.

Not sure what version of operating system you are using, Win7/Vista/XP or Mac OS X, but to help you isolate (and possibly eliminate) these potentially problematic files, here is a complete workthrough process from Apple address several issues including the inability to complete a function such as a restore.

iTunes: Troubleshooting unexpected quits, freezing or launch issues

Try the various steps in this Apple knowledge page and see if that helps resolve your restore issue. If it does not, simply reply back to this post.

IPod recognized by iTunes for about three seconds.

Use the Five Rs to restore the iPod. You will lose the data that is currently on it if you restore but you can always re-sync the data to the iPod. http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/

When i turn on my ipod touch it just says connect to itunes when i do nothing happens cant access anything.

you have a software cooruption. the only way to fix this is to do a restore. try plugging it into itunes and see what happens. if itunes recognizes the ipod it will tell you to restore it. if itunes does not recognize the ipod you need to unplug the ipod and turn it completely off. then you need to plug the ipod while holding the home button down until itunes recognizes the ipod and then it will tell you to restore it.

Use the cable included with your iPod touch to connect the device with your computer. Plug the fat end into your iPod touch and the longer end into your computer.

ITunes wont recognize my iPod. Unknown error 1415.

what ipod is this exactly ( 1st generation, 2nd generation, 3rd generation etc ? )

Also when you say you have tried restore but it did not work , can you explain further as how you tried to restore it ?

If you hold down the top and bottom of the scroll wheel together for longer then 5 seconds does that allow you to restore it.

Also if this is a shuffle I think there is a restore utility on the apple website that should allow you to restore it.

Also check the apple forums in relation to the correct model ipod you have and there should be some other people who have probably had similar problems with a solution.

Also if you connect it to another computer is it the same with regards to restoring it or itunes detecting it also if you right click on my computer --> manage --> disk management

does it show up in there ?

also if you google the 1415 error it should come up with more specific info - post back if you require further help
