Question about Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ2 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Dropped the camera and then.....

Unfortunately the camera received a hard knock after which it does not take pictures anymore - it is able to playback prior still pictures and video.

All I see right now on the camera/video/macro/economy mode is a black screen - I can still take it - flash works but all I get is a black screen.

Is there a reset button? Any help is appreciated.

Why does Kodak Pix Pro show black screen after being lightly dropped?

Unfortunately, even lightly dropped can cause problems if it lands just the right way. For instance, at my work, I have dropped my smart phone numerous times, including onto bare pavement and never a problem. Another guy at work, knocks his off a 12" patio table and the screen shatters. It could be as simple as a knocked loose connector inside.

Ouch!--I dropped my Nikon CoolpixS10 and the mesaage is "Lens error." What do you recommend I do. Catherine

Unfortunately Catherine if you are getting a lens error after a fall it means that the lens may have been knocked out of alignment on the guides that keep the housing on track so it moves back and forth smoothly, or the motor gears may be damaged or there is a motor issue. I recommend a camera shop take a quick look at it before you commit to having it repaired, that way you can decide the best course of action.

Hi, re Olympus U840 my lens won't retract and I am hearing a musical sound from my camera. It won't take pictures, but I can review pictures already it fixable? Thnaks, Mark.

If the camera was dropped and cannot take pictures, then it is in need of professional repair, I believe.

Reviewing pictures already taken means that the memory and display on the back are ok. But, taking pictures involves mechanical issues that have been compromised, unfortunately.

When I turn on my canon camera it says Lens error restart camera, what do I do? How do I restart my camera?

"restart camera" just means turn it off and on again. Have you dropped it by any chance? If you have a lens that telescopes out and you dropped it, it's probably not aligned properly anymore. You probably need to take it in to get fixed - which can get pricey, unfortunately.

I dropped our Kodak Z710

Doubt it. Kodaks are notorious for the lens becoming knocked out of line when dropped. I had an older model that a child knock off a 3 foot high table and it never worked again. Best thing is to find a local repair shop, call in to Kodak for assistance, or look for another camera.

I dropped my Canon IXUS 55 and now it's not recognizing the memory card. Message is "No Memory Card Selected." Is there a reboot or do I need to take it in? (the memory card is fine)

Do you have a second memory card that was not dropped in the camera? Try it. If the same message comes up, better take it in to the repair shop. If a camera receives a sever knock of any kind, taking it in is always a good idea - even is it seems to work fine afterwards. Problems can show up in the optics that you won't see in the camera's monitor. Or they can appear later because of cracked or loosened connections - say like when you're about to take a picture of a prize-winning bass. I'd say take it in.

I teach a children's gardening class. The children have a Coolpix camera for taking pictures of their gardens. Unfortunately a camera was dropped and will no longer work. It just says lens error when...

It sounds like the fall knocked the gearing or track of the lens off. The unit will need to be taken to a repair center to be put back on track.

System error for coolpix 885

Is the camera making any unusual noises or has it received any abuse such as knocks or being dropped, as the auto focus may have been dislodged which requires dismantling, I have a coolpix but of a 950 model and have had the same error but is probably not much difference between the models apart from more guts within the machine.

Dropped my camera on a hard surface and the lens is stuck open.

Buy a new one, that's what I did after I dropped my brand new camera.
