SOURCE: camera wont turn on
The camera may in fact be hung in voice recording mode, or may in fact have a low voltage error or internal failure. Suggest that you follow this routine. 1 remove batteries and press the on button, nothing should happen. Allow camera to sit for five minutes. 2 remove memory card if one is installed into camera. 3 install two fresh batteries in camera and attempt to power it on. 4. once on set the time and date. attempt to take a photo. then cycle the camera off. Once again power it on and see if the settings remain intact. If it is working then power off and insert the memory card and test again. I have found that allowing the camera batteries to run low and die in the camera cause a series of problems like the one that you have. Always use rechargable batteries of the Nickel metal hydride construction in this camera. This is the only known reliable power source for this camera. Note: camera instructions for this model can not be found on the samsungusa site and you will have to go to http://www.samsungcamera.com to find instructions for this older model.

If you have some skills, you can open the camera and cline your zoom lens with toothbrush and compressed air. Try to separate zoom lens from the electric motor. usually is 2 or 3 screws. You will see a lot of sand inside the camera and lens. And next time when you will go to the beach, you will take more care about your camera.
Solution 2, and more easy is to buy another zoom lens from ebay.Or another camera same model with broken LCD or other technical problem than zoom lens.
