Shuts off after inserting disc

As long as I don't have a disc in it, I will work. Once I put any disc in it, even a movie, it shuts off. It was working for two weeks after I got it. Now it just shuts off as it starts to "loading the disc". I even bought new cables and RF Converter box but to no avail. I love the thing. I was having fun recording.

Thanks

Sullivan53....were you able to open the door and take the DVD out? I have almost the same problem, only I cannot open the door. I actually had to take the face plate off so that I could the DVD out. Now, the DVD drawer is stuck out and I cannot push it back in. It bounces between open, close, loading. Driving me nuts. If anyone out there has anymore suggestions, I need to hear them. I live to far from a repair shop. I would really like to get the drawer shut before someone hits it and breaks it. Thanks.

I bought this a couple of yearsa ago at Christmas and it was working fine up till a month or so ago when it would just shut itself off for no apparent reason!

I unplugged it, played with the wires, and searched the internet for answers and found none.

I decided to throw it out- I disconnected it and unplugged it permantely and put it by the door to throw out. That was 2 weeks ago. I never got aroung to throwing it out.

Yesterday, for the hell of it, I decided to plug it back in to see if it could possibly work and VIOLA!!

It is actually working like brand new! I did not do anything except leave it unwired and unplugged for 2 weeks! I swear I don't know why it works but it does!

Try this!! I dunno if it'll work but it did for me!! Crazy !!

This unit has a problem with component failure in the dvd section of the unit. It is probably in the power supply to the dvd drive. Thats why it fails when you insert a dvd. You should get the unit tested and serviced for the problem. You can call the Magnavox customer support at thsi telephone number 1-800-605-8453. Tell them the model number of the unit and about the failure of dvd section of the unit. They will be able to tell you how you can get the unit serviced. I hope this information helps you with you problem.

If I try putting a movie into the system it comes up and starts playing. But the games wont even recognize as being inserted.

Does the disc spin? Put a mark on the disc then insert it. If it does not spin then It is probably the laser that needs to be replaced. It an easy fix. Go to ebay and and search for the laser. On the bottom left hand corner there is a upc code. should say something like:CECHH01. Use that to search into ebay and you should find a new blu ray laser or drive

PS3 Won't Take Disc!

Hi, I think it was me who had helped you before. I will be glad to help again. Ok, first you have to tear apart your PS3 (just like when you cleaned it). Now looking at the rollers and "dogs" make sure that they are closed and not open all the way like when a disc is in it. Look at the flap on the top too make sure it opens and closes freely. Next, PLEASE BE CAREFUL!! Plug your PS3 in and try to hit the eject button, if it is reset and ready for a disc it will beep twice when you hit the eject button without a disc in it. Place the top back on the he DVD drive and try to insert a disc. At this point it should take it. If not then try hitting the eject again. Once the PS3 resets and takes and ejects discs again, then you can put it back together.

After burning the DVD once,

Several possible solutions.

1. If you are using DVD-R discs, your player probably does not support them. There are known compatibility issues with DVD-R discs. If your burner supports it, use DVD+R discs.
2. Try burning at the slowest possible speed. That can help your player pick up the disc better.
3. Did you remember to put a menu in the beginning of your movie? Even if you have the disc set to skip the menu when inserted, it still must exist for some DVD players to recognize it as a disc and play it.

Every disc i insert into mschine takes ages to load and then says disc error, even movies I have previously watched on this machine

That happens when the lens are dirty or defective.

You can try using a cleaner DVD to clean the lens, that may not work.

Being the unit only 6 months old this is probably a fault concerning the lens, rather than dirt and dust on the lens.

I think the best thing to do is contacting Pioneer at the number listed on the owner manual, since there is one year factory warranty cover on all Pioneer products.

DVD disappeared in DVD Player after viewing movie

Get the dummy cd disc, put a blue tac on it. Insert it. Then after few seconds, eject it. Your dvd disc should stick with it when they came out. It worked for me and hope it will work for you.

Your DVD player is having a problem reading the disc. This is what is accounting for the pausing and the slow loading times...especially if it plays other movies without hitches. Even if the DVD is cleaned, some scratching on the disc will prevent it from being viewed properly. Blockbuster shoudl give you another disc to try of the same movie if you ask. Also, you can try getting a cleaner for your DVD player to remove dust and help it read discs better.

Mcd288 problem

Try not to use any rental dvd discs or dvd burner discs. Go get a brand new dvd movie(again,do not burn a DVD disc and play in this unit.) and put it in see if it works? Should have at least 2-3 movies for testing.
If you have tried to put in some BRAND NEW DVD movies and still doesn't work, you have a problem with the unit.
