Question about HP Compaq Presario V6000T Notebook

3 different things may happen when i turn comp on

I have a Presario 6000. For no apparent reason it died. Now when I turn it on, 1 of 3 things happen, #1 it may boot up and run perfectly for varying lengths of time, #2 it turns on, begins to boot up but freezes on the COMPAQ screen, or #3 it begins to beep and the screen immediately goes into sleep mode. I have replaced the memory card as recommended by a friend, didn't solve the problem. Any ideas?

Im wondering if the hard drive is beginning to go bad, that would cause lockups and also cause it to hang on the compaq logo screen.

It could also be the start of the motherboard going bad. Take your hard drive out, put a good known working one in there and with your discs, restore your laptop with the known good working hard drive and then see what happens, if the lockups are still happening then you know the motherboard is going bad.

I hate to bring bad news to any computer user, but it sounds like a bad video chip to me. With rare exception, this part is easier to replace by replacing the entire motherboard. There are some exceptions to this.

Under the memory chip, there should be a sticker with specific part information. If you use this information, and search Ebay, you can sometimes find the pros who repair these things. I have had success with such repairs on two out of three attempts in recent years.

If you choose this route, find the one with a phone number and call them first. If you cannot get a tech on the phone, or at least customer service on the phone, then you'll want to stay away from them.

Good luck
tony

Wont rev past 6000 rpm apparently in limp mode from disconnectingthe battery can anyone confirm this on1993 geo storm

it can only be these things. (takes testing) what engine, of the 3?
what transmission, if A./T is it failing to down shift ?
are you attempting 6000 rpm parked. if under load what load.?
1: yes, stuck in limhome, a scan tool finds this best but non sold in USA period. OBD1 Suzuki (the ECU is Suzuki read label) is not supported . and is one reason suzuki is chapter 11 , imho.
2: loss of power from engines. (compression tests find this is in 30mins. work.)
3: bad spark , check spark quality and timing>?
4: timing belt slipped, some are DOHC opted motors, even 1.8L.
5: bad fueling. (too lean or too rich)
6: limp home will trip for 5 or more reasons, but the CEL glows for
most running
so the first test is , keyon does CEL glow?
if not fix that first
once the CEL lamp is glowing key on, see if the lamp stays off running., if not, IT Has sTORED DTC, ERROR CODES. PULL THEM.

I put my memory card into the Dynex reader and nothing is happening

Move the reader to a different USB port. If that doesn't work, the reader's probably given it up. I've seen several of this brand reader die an early death, for no apparent reason.

L1932TQ won't turn on. Plugged it into a different comp and it still wouldn't turn on. Plugged a different monitor into my comp and that one worked fine.

Sounds apparent that you have a problem with the capacitors in your monitor. They get hot in the small confines and can blow. They can be fixed at some computer repair shops or by you, depending on how handy you are. Check out www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm for some more help.

98 accord dies while driving for no apparent reason

It could be a number of things. These include: faulty coil wire, bad alternator, bad torque converter, bad computer, the ignition relay is giving out, a dirty and stuck idle control valve. It should be one of these problems. How to tell which one it is is to follow a systematic approach and test each indiviaul item/circuit.

Several times our 95 Quest engine has died for no apparent reason while traveling. When this happens and we try to start it again it sputters and a groaning noise comes from somewhere under the vehicle...

Had the same problem with 1999 Quest - turns out that the distributor was going until it finally died. It stuttered andf kept shutting off when driven about 20 miles or so. Would start normally when cooled and off again when hot. But yours could be a different problem; not sure.

Lexmark 1270 all in one

First try plugging into a different USB port. I have seen several machines have a port suddenly die for no apparent reason. If that dosent work, try a different USB cable. Assuming the printer is working, the only thing left is either the cable or the port you have it plugged into.

Television died

Unplug the set, remove the back and follow the power cord onto the main board, where you will see a small glass fuse. Replace that fuse with a new GMA 6.3 amp fuse. I have seen many of those fuses in Panasonics "pop" for no apparent reason. If that does not fix it then replace the back and have the set serviced by an experienced tech.
