Question about Maytag Neptune Washer

1 Answer

Water leaking from lower connection of tub coming from pressure switch.

I have an older Maytag Neptune washer, model MAH4000AWQ. It has a water leak at the Water Level Switch Supply Tube lower connection, where it enters the tub. How does this come apart? I tried pulling, but was afraid it would break. The water drips onto the water pump motor.

Hi, If you remove the screws on each side of the door opening, the front panel will come free. You might be able to lok in and see the preasure hose. Id the hose leaking or the cup it attaches to?
I hope this helps. Please let me know if I can assist you further. Thanks
Vic

Could be a Tub Seal leak my 1st choice. Could also be a leak caused by a cracked outer tub, issues from the hoses from the drain line connections to the drain pump, drain pump and or drain line.

Are you going to try to DIY the fix?

My maytag neptune tl leaks from the bottom while it washes MODEL #FAV6800AWW it leak about two to three cups of water for each load, about one drop per second.

Possible Tub Seal leak, leak from Outer Tub, Sump Cap, Drain Pump, Drain Line.

You need to pull the front cover off the machine and ID the leak source. If there wash water over the Clutch Pulley I would suspect a Tub Seal issue.

You can't link to the Service Manual form this site.

Google Maytag Neptune load unbalance and see if you can find support for the Service Manual.

Maytag Neptune TL Washer leaking water on the floor....had a code of nf? I have been reading the message boards and they say could be water pressure sensor tube or switch...but where do I fink these in...

If you have water leaking out of the wash tub that sounds to me like it is the issue. How much water is in the wash basket when your Control Board signals the NF (No Fill) error code?

It's time to remove thr front cover and see where the water leak source is. If it's over the Clutch Pulley then you could have a Tub Seal issue. See if you can identify the leak source. Follow all saftey warnings in the Service Manual or call in a repair service........Big Dollars

See this post Clutch Fix I describe in the front of this fix action for dC/uC error codes how to remove the front cover of the machine.

let me know your DIY skills if you want to try a fix. I have many post on troubleshooting the Pressure Switch in the FAV6800A/FAV9800A machines in this forum both under FAV6800AWDIY and dh1200s logins.......D*ick

The water won't stop therefore its pill out of machine. Have to manually turn the machine off, shut off water. Is there a sensor, leveler that may be defective? The machine model is MAH4000AWQ. Your help...

Check water level switch sensor. a small tube will be connected to this switch from the washer drum. This tube carries water inside the sensor assembley and senses!

My maytag washer leakes, all the water runs out on the floor.

Remove the rear access panel to check the source of the leak. The drain pump is most probably broken or the sump hose is damaged or detached from the tub.

Drain Pump Removal/Replacement Procedure (Maytag Neptune MAH5500B)
  1. Safety first. Unplug the machine.
  2. Remove the hose clamps and hoses from the pump.
  3. Disconnect the wiring harness from the pump and the pressure switch terminals.
  4. Rotate the pump assembly counterclockwise and remove it from the base of the washer.
  5. Remove the plastic bag covering the pressure switch.
  6. Press in the locking tabs on the back of the pressure switch and pivot the pressure switch off the pump bracket.
  7. Grasp the pressure switch and lift the nipple off the pump cap.
  8. Install the pressure switch on the new pump in reverse order of the removal steps.
  9. Install the new pump in reverse of the removal steps above.

Washer over fills and water comes out the door. Water continues to run even durring the pump out cycle just before the spin cycle

  1. Water inlet valve. It may not be able to shut completely when the electricity to it has been turned off. The valve may leak and drip water into the clothes tub. Water may accumulate substantially and overflow. Remove the washer's cabinet to access it.
  2. Water level switch. This switch senses the water level in the clothes tub. It is usually a diaphragm device with a small clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. As the water level in the tub increases, the air pressure in the tube increases and activates the switch when the water reaches a certain level. When the switch is obstructed, it cannot tell the water to shut off and the machine overflows.Clear it from any obstruction.
  3. Air-hose. It is connected to the water level switch through a tube. If the tube or hose is cracked or broken, no enough pressure builds up to trigger the switch and shut the water supply off. Check it for any obvious damage.

About 1 minute into the cycle water starts running out from underneath of the washer. Checked all the hoses that are connected to the back and none are leaking

this is either the front seal that goes from the outer tub to the front of the washer or a hole in the outer tub itself or one of the hoses underneath the seal and the hoses are easiest to check you can take a cup of water and slowly pour it into the front seal. take care not to overfill it to where it spills into the tub and see if you are getting water on your floor from that. the hoses tip the washer up onto its back and look at them from the bottom for any cracking etc. the tub itself can only rust out on some of the neptune models or on others is plastic and can get punctured. just have to look for damage with a light and a mirror.

Washer leaking water on floor

Need to check drain pump and its hose connections. If its not from the drum seal then that's usually where the leaks occur.

Water Leaking from Lid

Sound like some water or detergent is being directed up instead of down into the tub and eventually leaks out when you open the lid. You need to check, maybe using the Service Program, to see how it fills and how the detergent comes out.

You have to investigate where the burning smell came from. Start at the timer and then check the main board. Also check the drain pump.
