Xbox turns back on after shutting it off

It may have one of two problems. If it has an internal battery and it goes flat it will send an alarm then shut down. Secondly it may have an internal fan that has stopped working and as such it shuts down to protect itself.

sounds like the start of the blinking green light and the tray wont eject, if you decided to get into it try pulling out both leads to the disc drive check them for damage make them nice an straight blow sockets where they sit and replace them true.if they are damaged replace them, NOTE opening your 360 voids the warranty

This i have seen before and it tells me the machines is displaying the signs of lead free solder failure (85%sure). you could strip the machine down and replacing the x-clamps at the same time do the heatgun fix if you dont have access to an IR oven.
To me it will just get worse and will definately need the x-clamps replacing AND the solder re-seating.

its a early sign of the x-clamp solder connection between the GPU and the precessing unit and the mainboard is becoming loose.

i would check you xbox360 owners manuel

turn off xbox, unplug the av cord from back of xbox.. power up unit without av cord.. wait til unit shuts off by itself.. reattach the av cord and turn it on..

When the xbox 360 is plugged into a power outlet, power is at the "entrance" of the console is stopped or held. When there is an internal hardware issue, some of the power leaks into the console, turning it on. If you want to fix the issue, I would suggest calling microsoft for repair. (only if you are under warranty) Otherwise, find a better repair company.

The grinding noise is natural, it is the console's way of turning on.

push it in until it closes .i know it sounds crazy but it worked for my ps2. i dont know about xbox though.
