Question about Kenmore Dryers

1 Answer

No heat in my stack-pak kenmore dryer. The element is ok and there are no broken cables/wires. 220 does come in to the unit and show up at the componets.

There is a thermal relay switch that is blown. Replace it.
Model number please and I will give you the part number.

Your model number will not come up on the SEARS parts site.
However, If you check the hi limit thermostat attached to the heat canister with a meter you will probably find the relay to be open. It will be the one that also connects to the heater element. If so, replace the high limit switch. Also look on the canister up high for a thermal relay. If it is open replace it also. They usually come in a set with the high limit.

The heating element won't get hot? Each wire to the element is getting 110v, but when checked together i am not getting 220v to the element?

Hi: 220 volts to a dryer are two 110 volts combined. Two separate wires. Did you check the heating element? See if it's broken. If so replace it. FIRST, Another thing to check is your circuit breaker. If it has only one side blown you will show 110 volts but that's all the dryer will get and dry slowly. The washer will still work as it's only 110v. I hopes this helps, Jeff

I have a Kenmore Heavy Duty, super capacity, quiet

It sounds like your heating element has broken. There are several links provided on this site on how to replace it. You might want to take a look at davesrepair.com to purchase a new one. He has pretty good prices on the element.

Dryer tumbles won't heat

The problem could be related to one of the following; Not enough power from the house, a bad or broken heating element, a bad thermal fuse, or a brake in the wiring.

Solution
Check the house voltage for 220-240
Do a continuity test on the heating element.
Do OHM reading on thermal fuse.
Check wiring to heating element.

Dryer no longer heats up on my Kenmore 417.94812301 laundry stacked unit

On your dryer the common problems found is either you lost some of your electrical power (check your fuse box) or you need a new heater #131475300 about $100 for the part.
