Cartridge error, refer to device documentation for troubleshoot

I tried replacing the ink cartridges on my hp officejet 4315 all in one but it kept saying "cartridge error refer to device documentation for trouble shoot."

hi, i've hp officejet 3600 all in one,

Did anyone resolve this error please, my printer is about a month old and i've only used it four or five times, this morning when I've switched it on I have the "Cartridge Error" refer to documentation for troubleshoot. My computer panel tells me its the black ink not being recognised, I've cleaned, turned on and off several times and the cartridge is not out of date either.

You must be using HP60.
Have you refill your cartridge at all?

If you did, gentely wipe out the cartridge circuit part with Q-tip (with bit of alcohol).
And wipe out the circuit part in the printer where cartridge goes in as well.

And try back.
Sometimes by having some dust or bit of ink make cartridge unreadable.


If you used brand new, do same thing to cartridge circuit part.
Otherwise, there got to be some circuit shot happen in printer.

For your reference, HP4580 is pretty new model and has not cause major problem.
Good practical and durability is good.

If you would like to save money, try refill kit by "ROADINK".

I changed the printer cartridges in a hp officejet 4315 and now it won't print-flashing error meesage "Cartridge Error:refer to device documentation to trouble shoot" What do I do? i


Good Day Sir, hope this will help you.
print cartridge troubleshooting for hp officejet 4315 :

1. Remove the black print cartridge from the slot on the right. Do not touch the ink nozzles or the copper-colored contacts. check for possible damage to the copper-colored contacts or ink nozzles.
2. Reinsert the print cartridge by sliding it forward into the slot. Then push the print cartridge forward until it clicks into the socket.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the tri-color print cartridge on the left side.
4. If the problem persists, print a self-test report to determine if there is a problem with the print cartridges.
5. If the self test report shows a problem, clean the print cartridges.
6. If the problem persists, clean the copper-colored contacts of the print cartridges.
7. If you are still experiencing problems with printing, determine which print cartridge is experiencing the problem and replace it.

Cartridge error refer to device documentation.


Cartridge is not installed correctly or either incapatible, meaning an aftermarket unit. I would replace both cartridges and run an alignment procedure.

Please clean the copper contacts of the cartridges with dry cloth and then check the expiry date and ink level present in the cartridges.

If the cartridges are expired or out of ink, replace the cartridges and check for the result.

If the cartridges are not expired and not out of ink then insert the cartridges and check for the results, if the issue persists recycle the printer and then reset the printer.

your cartridge may be faulty if you change cartridge and message display same problem so clean catridge block contact with soft cloth clean cartridge back side using student eraser if problem will continue so contact your hardware technician

Cartridge Error


I had the cartridge error message aswell. I took an alcohol swab and cleaned the points on both cartridges, let the cartridges sit for 1 minute to dry, and replace cartridges, restart printer, problem solved. Apparently I haven't used this printer in a month or so, and left it in my car and the ink dryed and caused an error.
