Get a flywheel knocker. you will either place it over the threaded crankshaft top or thread it on. then, hit the knocker with a hammer while GENTLY prying the flywheel up.

Honda issy lawnmower engine will not stop once startedl

I suspect the braking pad and or mechanism around the fly wheel is worn, mal-adjusted or disconnected. Hint start at the bar you are supposed to pull down to the handle in-order to start the mower, follow the cable, check the spring loaded mechanism the cable connects to & then remove the recoil to examine the brake band. See if it works and if it has worn down. Repair/replace as needed.

Pull rope will not pull

Remove recoil rope assembly. Ensure rope is properly wrapped around. While recoil assembly is removed use ratchet and socket to rotate fly wheel, remove spark plug first, observe compression and exhaust at spark plug whole during rotation of fly wheel. Clean or replace spark plug. Ensure oil is full. 30w. Set spark plug gap. Always use Stabile in gas. Replace coil rope is required. Purchased by the foot at any mower repair store.

What should the clearance be betwwen mag and fly wheel toro

The gap should be about .010 (Ten Thousandths of an inch), but truthfully, the way I set it is to loosen the coil bolts and place a shiny business card in between the coil and flywheel. Tighten the coil up snug against the business card and then remove it. This should set the gap close enough to the correct setting for you; done. Hope this helps and best of luck to you.

Electrical problem with my 1999 Scotts Riding Lawnmower

If the motor is trying to start but won't try removing the engine shroud and cleaning the magnets on the fly wheel and the two little prongs close to the fly wheel. They might just be rusted and not getting a good electric pulse to the spark plug. Also clean the spark plug wire end that goes on the plug. I use fine sand paper or emery cloth. Your choice.

Good luck and let me know if this works.

thanks

I want to change the pull crd on my 6.5 hp craftsman lawnmower

remove the engine shroud. Pull the cord all the way out. Put a screw driver into the fins so it does not unwind. Cut new cord and install through hole in shroud and the rewinder. Reattach handle to cord and hold onto rope and pull screw driver out. Slowly let cord rewind. Pull a couple of times to make sure it is working. While engine shroud is off us a piece of emery cloth or fine sandpaper to clean off the magnets on fly wheel and the two little prongs close to the fly wheel.

Good luck let me know if this helps.

You need to pull the starter out and check the drive gear. If the drive gear is no good you will have to replace the starter. Make sure the cogs on the fly wheel are okay. If the fly wheel is damaged you will have to replace the fly wheel.
