I corrupeted/erased the firmware on my kodak 5100 printer
When I opened my AiO home center to print some photos a firmware update popped up. I clicked OK to update but then saw that my printer was off when it should have been on. I tried to turn my printer on but it wouldn't turn on so I hit ctrl + alt + delete and ended the program since I thought I could just restart the update. I found out later that you are never supposed to do that. The stupid update should have warned against it, it didn't even tell me to make sure my printer was on until after I hit ok and the upgrade began. I contacted kodak but all she had me do was unplug and replug it back in even though I told her I'd already tried that. Anyhow she told me my printer was broke so I have to buy a new one. A friend told me there should be a way get the firmware back on the printer. It's a kodak EasyShare 5100 All-In-One Printer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: I corrupeted/erased the firmware on my kodak 5100...
I am pretty sure that pop up was for software update and not firmware update......even if you have cancelled the update you may just visit www.kodak.com/go/downloads and select printers in the first drop down and then select all in one printers and then in the last drop down select your printer model and click on go on the next page is the option to download the software and firmware........so select the second option which says firmware for (printer model).........when you download it make sure you do not run it and save it on the desktop and make sure the printer is turned on then once it is saved to the desktop screen then double click on it to run it and it will install the latest version of firmware.......if it was for the software update check what is the version of your software first........for that you need to open home center and click on the question mark in the top right and click on i and a window that pops up just look on the extreme left hand bottom corner for the version.....if it is not 3.4 then you may go to the last option in the right hand pane that came up when you clicked on the question mark........the last option is check for updates and it will update the software..........let me know if this worked and if this was helpful or not............

install both ink cartridges . open home center, click on ? @ top right hans side .after clicking on question mark choose maintenance and then choose clean printhead. issue will be resolved. contact kodak@ 1800 421 6699 if u have same problem
My son has the same model and issue. I had him go to http://www.kodak.com/global/en/service/downloads/dln_ekn034524.jhtml?pq-path=12667 and get the latest software and firmware update.
Make sure to use the dropdown to select your operating system. The page defaults to XP.
The software is a new version of the AIO home center.
The firmware installer updates the physical printer. Before you run this program be sure to read and understand the instructions.
If both ink cartridges have good levels of ink, and you keep getting the clean the print head issue after updating both the software and the firmware, then call Kodak support. 1-800-421-6699, 7 A.M. to midnight Eastern time, 7 days a week. They will ask you if you put in new cartridges and installed the updates for the firmware and the AiO centre software. Be patient. They will get a solution for you.
if you have the software installed on the computer and if it is Xp then click on start button and go to all programmes and go to Kodak and there would be AIO home center......it is vista then click on start button and go to all programmes and scroll down to find the Kodak and when you click on it there would be AIO home center........there is more if you dont find it so let me know
The option to clean the printhead is on the Kodak AiO Home Center, when you open it you need to click on the Question Mark (?) and then, under General Links, click on "Maintenance", then a new window pops up and you will see the option to clean the printhead. Although, most likely it still won't work, so I recomend you to call Kodak AiO Printer support at 1-800-421-6699 to have your printhead replaced.
If you can open the home center trying going through your printers and faxes in your computers control panel. That's what I did. Just right click on your printer and select preferences. Go to advanced and click on maintenance. You should have two options, to calibrate or clean your print heads.
I did both with mine and it still doesn't print, but who knows, maybe it will work for you.
I needed to reload my AiO Home Center software and no one seemed to have the correct procedure. Maybe if you remove & reinstall yours it will resolve your problem. This procedure worked for me on my XP-machine: 1. got to Control Panel/Printers&Faxes and delete the printer 2. go to your Hardware/Device Manager/Universal Serial Bus Controllers, right-click on USB Composite Device and select Uninstall 3. go to Control Panel/Add/Remove Software and remove the EasyShare software 4. disconnect the cables from the Printer 5. download from Kodak.com the program "install_aio.exe"; run the program (I selected only AiO+EasyShare+Software Updater to load) 6. followed the prompts after the sw installed to reconnect the Printer cables 7. rebooted
