It is difficult to tell yet. when you bought the computer did they give you a floppy disk called a recovery disk. Install it withthe comp. off, then turn on the power. The floppy disk should boot up and stop on drive "A:". If this works, then it is not the BIOS, but it does not mean that the motherboard is OK. Go and buy a cheap digital voltmeter (usually at Home Depo or other Hardware Store - Radio Shack would be rather expensive). Using the voltmenter you check the voltages as follows: +3.3V (Brown), +5V (Red), -5V (White), +12V (Yellow), -12V (Blue), +5V-SB (Purple), COMMON (Black), PS-ON (Green), PW-OK (Orange). I could be wrong but I still don't think that the problem is in the BIOS. Please get the info. back to me

Something is definately not right, but I am not convinced it is the motherboard.

You are saying the system shuts down while doing a memory test? I would replace the memory with known good, and known compatible with the system first.

Also double check the cpu and cooling system to be sure the cpu is not burning up.

good luck

My dell inspiron M5030 turns on showing the dell logo and then it turns off

I would remove the power supply, battery, hard drive and RAM. Power up the laptop with just the power adapter and enter bios. If it goes to bios OK, select the default setting. Press F10 and let it try to re boot.
Remove the power supply and fit the RAM. Insert the power supply and try to boot. You should have error message on screen. Remove the power and insert the hard drive. Connect the power supply and attempt to boot.
That sequence should show the issue at the point that there is no display that is where the issue is.

Try first resetting your BIOS configuration to bring it to its default settings and that should do the trick....

Hope that helps.........

Samsung N102SP doesn't boot

Sounds like a Ram or processor failure. Any beeps?
Take the battery out and pull the power. Wait 2 min and put the power back in and try to boot. That is a start.

Comp wont start up

The hard disk may have died. Check the BIOS and check the hard disk setting, if it appears OK then boot up with a DOS floppy startup boot disk, and select boot up without CD-ROM support, then type fdisk, answer Y to large disk support, select 4 to Display partition information.
If you see all your disk partition the most likely your hard disk is OK.
Most likely you operating system is damaged/corrupted and you will need to reinstall your operating system and drivers for all your devices.

ALiveNF6G-VSTA (MB-ALVNF6G) Motherboard boot up

ensure that all connections to the mobo are seated correctly,it is sometimes worthwhile to remove, then reinsert ,ram ,cpu & fan , video card if applicable ,ensure cpu fan is working, that the mobo is not shorting out to the case, ( a loose ***** can do that) also check the power supply for any slight burning smell.
try booting from a floppy or cd with a memory checking program such as memcheck 1.70 or later,
last resort update bios but only when all else fails as this my render the board inoprable ,well it is already so nothing lost .

good luck

Boot up problem

It is possibly the RAM it may have ceased. Look at it underneath held in by two screws. Take it out and examine it then put it back. The motherboard seems ok because you said the lights are lighting up. Sometimes the ram can stop even the bios and nothing can boot up.
