Question about Nintendo DS Lite Console
My son's 18-month old DS-Lite has been losing its charge for a while now so I decided to get a replacement battery for him. I ordered a battery from Amazon that claimed to be an OEM compatible battery.
I replaced the old battery with the new one and when I plug in the charger, the orange light flickers for just a second and then it's gone and there's no light anywhere. I waited for about 30 minutes and tried to turn on the DS anyway and it wouldn't even power up at all. There's no sound or anything - it's not even trying :-(
So, I took out the OEM battery and put back the old one thinking that at least he could play with the DS until I ordered the right one. I closed everything back up and tried to charge it up again and it did the same thing; the orange light flashed on and off but it still won't turn on.
If the orange light just flickers its likely that the battery is not in contact with the DS. The DS should respond the same if there is no battery in there. I had a same experience with a different battery. When i put the new battery in, it bent the contact pins and I thought my DS broke. I just bend the contact back and it worked. *phew*

Take it to best buy or where you bought it and they might tell you whats wrong if they dont go to support.nintendo.com and put it in repair and it will cost $50-$90

I have seen this happen when someone plugs the wrong charging cord up to the DS lite, Is there any chance some one did this to your DS lite.It sounds also as if the battery is not making proper connection.
