My kitchenaid microwave will not heat in microwave mode. In fact the turntable starts and stops and the display blinks intermittenly. In convection oven mode everything works fine - It heats, turntabl

The magnetron is the main part that gives out microwaves to heat the food. As the convection bit is working this points towards the microwave bits.
The magnetron has a main diode, fuse and transformer to run the microwave bit, any of these could be faulty. A word of warning though, there are extremely high voltages inside microwaves, even when unplugged in the main capacitor. Also to repair this section you will need to be a fully qualified engineer to even order parts for this.

Cannot unlock the display panel

Elise,

So I'm understanding that the lock icon stays on no matter what you have tried. I would try pressing and holding the START/STOP button for 5-10 seconds to see if it changes. I don't know how long you've been leaving it unplugged for when you do unplug it, but i would suggest at least 3-5 minutes. If these don't work what I would do is either contact the manufacturer or maybe even a local authorized technician. This way they would be able to assist and possibly have some more suggestions or be able to find and solve the issue for you.

-Best regards-

My house lost power earlier today, and now my microwave is not heating the food, and has a lower case "d" in the display after the time. Any suggestions?

It is in the demo mode. To turn off here is what the manual says:

The microwave oven and Timer must be off. Touch and hold Timer Off or the number 3 pad (depending on model) for three to five seconds (depending upon model) until two tones sound and “d” or "Demo" (depending on model) appears on the display. Repeat to turn off and remove “d” or "Demo" icon from the display.

Weak heat ???

Is the cooking level set to high? most microwaves you can adjust the cooking level. 10 is usually the highest. When you turn it on, there is usually an icon or indicator light that tells you you are cooking on high somewhere on the display

Sensor Error, Funny Smell and Noise

On GE models, "SENSOR ERROR" appears on the display when:
  • Using the sensor feature, the door was opened before steam could be detected. Do not open the door until stream is sensed and time is shown counting down on the display.
  • Steam was not detected in the maximum amount of time. Use Time Cook to heat for more time.
If none of these conditions apply to your situation, then you may have a defective sensor and/or magnetron.

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for maybe an hour. Then let us know if the hard reset does not fix it.

How do i set clock for time of day

You can download your owner's manual free here.

From the manual:

SETTING THE CLOCK - When the microwave oven is plugged into an outlet, the oven will display " 0:00 "

1. Press the CLOCK button; the hour digit will blink
and the clock indicator will light.

2. Press the number keys to set current hour.

3. Press the number keys to set current minute.

4. Press AM/PM to choose AM or PM.

5. Press the CLOCK button again; the display will
show the present time. After the clock has been
set, the time will appear with blinking colon,
unless the oven is cooking or defrosting.

NOTES:

- To reset the present time in the display window when the oven is off, press the CLOCK button and
reset.

- If you make a mistake when setting the time, press the STOP/CLEAR button.

- To recall the actual time while the oven is cooking or defrosting, simply press the CLOCK button
and the display will show the actual time for three seconds.

Neff HTHB86K Microwave oven.

The microwave unit is faulty as you can read from the display or the controller isn't working correctly, you should take your MW oven to an authorized service center. It can be repaired by yourself but it's highly dangerous because it has high voltage inside and microwave energy.
