Did you set these preferences in the sounds profile you are currently using? You may want to create a new "custom" sound profile rather than modifying the default ones.

Check your sctive profile and the settings for each of these options - It may that you have changed one of your profile settings which is no longer active.

From the home screen - Go to profile, scroll to the bottom for advanced, your active profile will be highlighted, choose edit.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

MMS messages that are forwarded to my email

You can't. First off it was sent from a Blackberry and they do EVERYTHING their own weird way, unless you have a blackberry too?. Secondly, the was item sent from from a third party application Blackberry App called smsXfer, you would need that same app, and you can't unless you also have a Blackberry.

It is a very odd thing to try and do, send MMS Video Picture Message via an app that transfers it to SMS and then send it via email! Stick with a plain text message to your phone number.

If is not from someone you know, it may be spam or malicious trying to get you to click a link or provide personal details.

Email alert

whenever there is a new mail/sms/mms/im there should be a "red asterisk". it is possible that you opened the mail folder already but haven't opened the mail yet that's why the indicator is gone.

How do I transfer messages off my blackberry? (storm 9530)

Use your bb desktop software to make a backup onto your PC. It will make 2 files, with today's date, one a .cab which contains media files (eg photos you took) and the other, an .ipd contains encapsulated application data.

The contents of email are in in the .ipd file, in bare text html format. Suggest taking a copy of the .ipd file first, then open the copy in your favourite text editor. Notepad is OK; I use EditPad Lite. Then do a text search for "<html" (without the trailing ">") to find the first email message. You can copy the html between <html ...> and </html>, paste into a new text file, edit if you want, and save as SomeFileName.html, then open in your browser to see it.

Between each email is some binary info that would be used by the blackberry. Don't know how to decode this.

Some emails are text only. SMS messages are in there too - can search for the text you know is in one of them, to find them all together, the message itself is bare text.

I like helping people with blackberry, because I learn useful things for my own use. Just found this product, shareware for about US$20 after 30 day demo trial:
http://www.processtext.com/abcblackberry.html
Handles IPD files.

go to your ring profile, scroll down to advanced options, click on profile you want to update, usallt the one that says active next to it. This should open up and have a list of options, phone, email, messenger, etc. scroll down to sms text and click the track ball. now pick and choose which ring tone you want, however many vibrates, and rings etc. once you are done, click the back button and save the changes.

My phone freezes whenever i try to go into my SMS and MMS folder

sounds like you have multiple programs running. try closing apps 1st by holding down the key next to send and then tapping an icon then quickly pressing the key next to send and select close on each of the icons. i think 5 or 6 stay on all the time... phone, browser, email., home, blackberry messenger.. Also there is a great learning tool for this phone at verizonwireless.com

Picture messaging allows the user to send and receive photos to and from their contacts.
Important: The Instant Messenger recipient must be online to send the picture.
To send pictures from your BlackBerry smartphone camera using <Instant Messenger>, complete the following steps:
  1. On the BlackBerry smartphone, preview a picture.
  2. Display the menu and select the Instant Messenger you want to use to send the picture.
  3. Complete the onscreen instructions.
To send a picture from within an Instant Messenger for BlackBerry smartphones application session, complete the following steps:
  1. Within the Instant Messenger session, display the menu and select Send Media. The Which Type dialog appears.
  2. Click Picture. The Pictures folder opens.
  3. Select the picture you want to send. A request is sent to the recipient indicating you sent a file and an option to Accept or Decline the file.
    • If the recipient clicks Accept, the Save File dialog opens. The recipient saves the file on the BlackBerry smartphone.
    • If the recipient clicks Decline, The sender receives a message indication the file transfer was declined.
or

The BlackBerry smartphone user is unable to send a picture as an email message from the Media application of the BlackBerry smartphone. The Send option is not present on the menu when the email message is sent using an email account that is associated with the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

Although the current BlackBerry Internet Service supports large attachments or attachments that are in their native format, BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.0 does not.
A BlackBerry smartphone that is provisioned with the current BlackBerry Internet Service uses it as the default method for sending pictures from the camera. As a result, when attempting to send a picture attachment from an email account that is associated with the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, the Send option will be missing from the menu as the image is in native format and size.

Upgrade the BlackBerry Enterprise Server to software version 4.1 Service Pack 2 or later, since support for large attachments or attachments that are in their native format has been introduced in that version.

Follow the steps below to send the picture attachment from the Messages application on the BlackBerry smartphone:
  1. Select Messages on the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone.
  2. Press the Menu key.
  3. Select the Compose Email option from the menu.
  4. In the To field, enter the contact address where the email message is to be sent.
  5. Press the Menu key again.
  6. Select the Attach File option from the menu.
  7. Browse to and select the picture to be attached to the email message.
  8. Send the email message.
