Chain saw won't start

Brand new never used McCulloch 3216 have had for years but never had cause to use it. Tried to fire it up today and it won't start. It has gas and oil ( fresh ), just put them in. I tried checking for spark by taking plug out and pulling cord but don't see a spark. Plug is wet so I am getting fuel to plug but can't see spark when I pull cord.

The end of the plug where you are looking for the spark needs to be touching the head while you pull the chord. It must be grounded...

ok. Then you may have a bad plug or your kill switch or wiringis faulting. If you san easily unplug the switch I would try that. And if no success there you could have a faulty product. Does it even try to start?? The coil runs off of the flywheel and grounds through the switch. If it is bad then this saw should have been exchanged.. You can check for a stuck ring by putting your finger over the plug hole and feel pressure as you pull it through.. Thats about all there is to it.

Looking for a repair manual for a McCulloch 3216 gas chain saw.

What exactly do you want to do? You must purchase a repair manual from somewhere. I can provide an Exlpoded parts list for free. I can offer advise on a procedure for free. To do anything beyond try an Internet Search for "McCulloch 3216 Chainsaw Repair Manual" I need to know what you want to do.

What is the fuel mixture for the mcculloch 3216 chain saw?

Fuel/Oil Mixture
  1. Use a quality 2 cycle oil and mix it to the OIL supplier's recommended ratio. Today I use Stihl 2 cycle oil mixed @ 50:1 in a Pioneer that I purchased new in 1980. There are no gouges or scratches on the piston or cylinder and I have no carbon build up on the piston top. The manual (on stone tablets) recommends 24:1. Over the years the mixture has leaned from 24:1 (Saw Recommendation) to 28:1 (Lawn boy mower recommendation) to 32:1 (Oil provider 8oz/2gal - used for many years) and finally the last 5 (±) years 50:1 (Stihl 2.6oz/1gal)
  2. Any fuel containing ethanol is not good with chainsaws. Mix what you expect to use within a few months. Anything over 6 months old use up in a 4 cycle engine. HTH
