Question about Danby DDW1805W Designer Series Free-Standing Dishwasher

1 Answer

Won't let water in.

Danby Designer DDW1805W dishwasher will not let water come into washer. I checked what I think is the pressure sensor. It is closed both with and without water pressure. Is this likely to be the problem and what do I do about it?

If your pump is running, you probably have water in the overflow area so it won't let more come in. You need to pry off the plastic cover that is just below the door. We unscrewed it while following manual instructions, but found that it actually pops off without unscrewing anything. Under there you will find a rubber or plastic cover on the overflow area. Remove it, drain the water into a container and then put the covers back on. The dishwasher should work now.

This fixed my problem!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! And a little note, the rubber piece is tiny. And be prepared for water to flow out. Again, thank you!

What is the best dishwasher to use if you have low water pressure? What are key features you need to look for?

The Danby DDW1805W Designer Series and the Maytag MDC4650 AW are both recommended for low water pressure. They are both free-standing dishwashers.
Important features would be how much water and electricity do they use, as well as how well it cleans. Is it easy to load and is it "roomy"? How quietly does it run.

Salt for DDW1805 Danby

I use ordinary household water softener salt crystals, not pellets, or table salt. The table salt often is not as refined as softener crystals, and can damage the dishwasher's softener in time. Also, the water softener salt comes in a large bag (around 25-50 lbs) for about $6 US.
