The two little holes to the left of the power button (top of the camera) is the microphone. Manual page 14.
I can't find any connector to use an external microphone.

And you ale can't hear sound when played back on a computer or TV?
Sometimes people keep a finger on the microphone, but I think you should hear a muffled sound then.

Is there a volume control for the canon powershot sd 1200 IS microphone? The speaker is working perfectly. Old video recordings play back beautifully, but new recordings play back very softly. Playback...

As far as I know there is no way to adjust the microphone's sensitivity on this model. Make sure you are recording in a relatively quiet environment as these cameras' microphones tend to pick up everything and can generate a lot of background noise in your recordings. If you still feel like you need to shout into the mic to hear anything then you should look into getting your camera service by an authorized Canon service center. Hope this helps!

I shoot a video with my Kodak Easyshare camera, and It will not have sound. I have tried looking at the menue, and it already says "All camera sounds On" but there is no sound. How do I put sound...

Since the camera has a microphone it can record sound but there is no speaker so you can't hear anything during playback on the camera. You have to transfer/copy your videos to a computer (with speakers) and then play them back there to actually hear the recorded sounds.

I bought a Kodak C143 yesterday, took a video, played it and found there is no sound. i have a microphone on the camera so it should play the sound?

You cannot adjust the sound volume on the camera but it does record the sound during videos. During playback on the camera itself you can unfortunately not hear the sound associated with your videos. You are required to download your videos to your computer to hear the sound. Wish the instruction pamphlet told us that.

My microphone records the sounds on my computer and plays them directly back through the speakers. How can I eliminate the microphone playback and have someone else hear me on something such as skype?

double click on the volume on the taskbar (System Tray - Next to clock) and Controls for Playback will open. If you can't see Microphone Volume here, click Options- Properties - and in Playback Volume list - Select Microphone by ticking against it and press OK. You will see the Microphone Volume on screen. Just tick inside the mute box of Microphone. Now the audio from Microphone will not play but you can still record it.

How do you turn sound on video

Hello,

The camera will record the sound automatically, but you must transfer the file to your computer and play it back before you can hear it. The camera has a microphone, but does not have a speaker to hear it when you playback on the camera itself.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Backpanel socket for microphone is not recognised. Speaker socket is alright.

in order to hear sound on the microphone you need to check the Mixer settings as the default setting for microphone (for playback) is mute as you would get some horrible feedback..

double click on the speaker icon in the bottom left and chose properties from the options menu you may (or may not) have the option to select microphone for playback, however there should be a setting for recording which should give you a slider to set the recording levels for the microphone, use sound recorder or other recording software to test microphone is working

How to hear my voice through my usb microphone?

by default the playback of your voice is muted. next to your clock theres the sound speaker icon click on it, you should see microphone somewhere there, if you dont press settings from the toolbar and then properties

then on the playback make sure there is a X on microphone.

then click ok, now check is the microphone muted? unmute it and speak to the microphone you should hear your own voice played back instantly from the speakers.
