NO VIDEO OUTPUT FROM LCD OR EXTERNAL MONITOR ON TOSHIBA SATELLITE L20 LAPTOP

There is no video output from the Toshiba Satellite L20 laptop either on LCD screen or on the external screen, when I press the power button, I can see all the green lights near the screen turn on and off, the power light stays on and the cooling fan stays on. I checked the harddrive with an external adapter and found working ok. I removed the battery and pressed the power button for long time for several times, just one time when I pressed the power button I could see the toshiba screen for a second then just blank with a backlight, nothing happened like this after I tried the same thing agin and again. Is it the motherboard? I could not find any replacement motherboards from google search, please help..

I would like to boot a toshiba satellite m105-s30401 with an external monitor as the laptop screen is busted and i would like to use an external monitor until i get a replacement screen, how do i get

Connecting an External Monitor or Data Projector
You can switch to an external monitor or data projector by two methods. 1. Connect the external monitor to the laptop's video port, power up the external monitor first and the laptop. The video information will automatically switch to the external monitor. 2. If you power up the laptop first then you can switch the video output to the external monitor by pressing the Fn key and one of the Function keys, depending upon your make and model laptop. You can also toggle between the external monitor or both LCD screen plus the external monitor or back to LCD screen only by pressing the Fn key plus one of the function key a few times. Here is a list of key combinations for some of the laptops :- IBM ThinkPad = Fn + F7 HP and Compaq = Fn + F4 Toshiba = Fn + F5 Dell = Fn + F8

I can`t use an external monitor connected by VGA port for my Toshiba Satellite M55 S331. I need to know if the port is damaged?

The M55 series does not output to external VGA automatically. You can either go into Setup (press F2 when computer is starting) or use FN F5 in Windows to toggle between LCD, monitor, or simultaneous output.

The monitor port should be standard, so as long as the plug on your monitor doesn't have any bent pins, it should work.

Hi I have a toshiba satellite laptop with a 17"

Hi,

Have you tried to connect an external monitor to see if the thin line is still visible? If not, you can try it but if you do not have an external monitor, you can just access the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) by pressing F10 or Del (whatever key is designed on your laptop to access it) and check if still visible. If it is visible in the BIOS, you may need to replace the LCD inverter or the LCD of your laptop. However, if it doesn't appear in the BIOS, you can try to update your video card driver.

Hope this helps.

Toshiba Satellite A350D - 003 laptop. Turned it on sounded like it booted right, but the screen is all scramble and looks like colored lines

The LCD screen may be bad, there is a video cable cord from the motherboard to the screen "may have come loose" But first hook a external monitor to the video output on the back of the laptop to see if clears up, if yes! then it is the laptop issue, if no! both LCD screens show the same problem, it is The Video Graphics Card that is part of the motherboard.

I have a toshiba satellite and the lcd screen keeps ''ghosting'' in fluro green, any idea what's happening and whether i can fix it?

To check if the video card is faulty or the LCD screen.
Connect an external monitor to the laptop's external video port, power up the external monitor first then bootup the laptop. The Windows will automatically switch to the external monitor if the video card is OK. If not then the fault could be the video cable cable/connector or the LCD screen.
Get back to me with the results of this test and I can advise further.

Hi Andy,

if you have no conflicting devices, in device manager ( yellow exclamations et,c )
Theres no reason why it Should,nt Work. ( unless Theres A Fault )

have you tried toggling the fn key ( if theres one on the keyboard ) With LCD/TV Or LCD/VGA et,c.
usually located as F keys Or numerical keys on the keyboard.

Also see if theres any other settings in the Bios. F2-Esc Or Del At Start-up. Look in Video Or Display Mode.

hope this helps you out buddy.

Toshiba L20 - screen appears dead?

Try to plug in an external monitor on laptop to check if there is a problem with your LCD.

Plug in the external monitor then boot the computer. If still nothing happens try removing the battery and the adapter, let it rest for a minute then plug in only the adapter and try to boot up with out the battery.

Hope this helps.
