Question about Pioneer DEH-2000MP MP3 CD AM/FM Car Stereo Head CD Player

New Radio too powerful for 15 Watt speakers?

Purchased a Pioneer deh-2000mp receiver for a 2000 Honda Civic, but I noticed the car only has 15 watt speakers. Do I need 50W speakers as I thought I read that in the info. I just wanted to replace the radio becasue the original radio CD player skips. Now I either have to find a lower end radio or buy speakers? Any advice? Can I install this radio when the car has 2 front and 2 back 15 W speakers? The ohms range was within the spec of the radio. Mike

Hello mike_mccuske,

The OEM speakers will still work OK with your new Pioneer. Just don't turn it up too loud. Of course you'll get improved sound if you replace the speakers. Your Pioneer's RMS power is 14 watts, and the peak (maximum) power is 50 watts. The door speakers in a 2000 Honda Civic are 6.5" and you can get a set of Pioneer speakers, the TS-G1642R's, from Crutchfield for less than $50. Their RMS power range is 2-30 watts and they can handle a peak power of up to 180 watts.

Hope this helps.

Make sure that the speaker wiring is correctly connected. Please see the instruction manual that would have come with the Pioneer deck for correct wiring instructions first. Check that first and let me know..

After reconnecting the car battery, the radio would not turn on

The pioneer has a small protection fuse in the back of the radio, alot of time when it catches a power spike, it will blow to protect the head unit. It should be plugged in the back of the radio under the main plug. Hope this helps.

you must buy a wire harness connector from best buy or another dealer with knowlege and parts available / ps with this connector you just connect the wires from the radio to the connector following the color diagram and then snap on the connector to the car plug and it will work..

Can't fit subwoofer amp leads to pioneer DEH-2000MP Head unit

pioneer head units only distribute like 200 rms or so to the speakers. you might have to find a blue maybe even blue with white striped wire and nick it just enough to tie your amp wire around it. tape it up and see if it works.

Connecting Pioneer DEH-2000MP to an amplifier

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

You would need a special adapter that connects to the speaker wires of the Pioneer DEH-2000MP and converts them to line level RCA ports. Something like the image below and available from here or most car stereo stores.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

it could be getting week of over heated .. i do know this for a fact if u dont have enough power out, it can do that.. try un doing 1 or 2 speakers and see if that dosent do the trick. cuz some speakers have a sertan ohm. pediance level, if that type of speaker has a very hi out put level u should try a lower watt speaker. also some speakers can drain your radio's strenth, so watch for ur out put levels.. good luck.
