Question about Brother Sewing Machines

Brother sewing machine will not make continuous stitches

My brother sewing machine, model XL-3500i stopped making continuous stitches suddenly and the stitches it does make are loose and strange looking on front and back. I have checked everything I can think of that might be causing this with no resolution. Also, the feed dogs are stuck and won't lower..could this be the problem?

First you should turn off the machine and let in reset it's internal programs. Yes the feed dogs are very important. start your machine again...set the feed dogs...unthread and rethread teh machine from start to finish to include taking out the bobbin and replacing it. then make sure you bobbin winding in completely in Un using mode...

I have a Brother sewing machine, model XL 6562, unsure of age, it's older. Today it only sews in reverse, cannot make it go forward. Help!!

well reverse button must be stuck. Try turning wheel to move forward and setting the stitch, like to zigzag. Oil it good, old machines get "thirsty".

How to Change the needle position in XL2600i brother sewing machine?

The manual should be helpful:

Brother XL 2600 Operation Manual

FWIW, not all machines have a needle "position" function even though they can make a zig-zag stitch. The home position is the center and the zig-zag selector just sets how wide the stitch will be.

Does anyone know how to set a Brother sewing machine for a straight low tension stitch?

Stitch length on 2.5 and stitch width on zero, and just loosen the top tension by a half number if you want the tension looser. If your machine has a stitch selector knob, make sure it is set to the straight stitch setting.

I bought Brother sewing machine Model XL 2230, And could not get a good stitch. Keeps giving me loop either on top stitch or down stitch. Dont know if the single needle can't do straight sewing and dont...

The foot is on the side. Make sure it is clean. Take off the plate and remove the bobbin cleaning all the lint and thread out with q-tips. Oil if needed. Make sure you are using the same thread in the bobbin as on top. Rethread the machine making sure you do it correctly. Change needles using Schmetz as it is shorter and I have found Singer and white label needles are too long and cause problems and well as break easily as they hit the bobbin and cause looping. Not sure what you need to know about the foot. It should have a handle on it so you can put it up or down. Google Brother model XL 2230 and download a manual to find lots of info about your machine.

Suddenly my brother xl-2220 is sewing strangely! The top stich is fine, no tensio issues, but when I look at the bottom stitch it isn't right! The stitch is very loose and looks like the pattern a snake...

totally rethread, and do this test, rethread with the presser foot up, pull the thread it should feed smoothly, now lower the presser foot, pull thread, it should barely move. This will seat your thread in the tension discs, Also, don't be afraid to change your needle often.

Machine not sewing

Have you checked that the tiny screw in the bobbin is not loose, sometimes this creates this problem for me or if the bobbin size is incorrect.

ok,,when you press the foot peddle you will hear a continuous noise like a motor running that means its not the foot peddle, if not peddle is dying or motor carbon brushes are worn, this is a simple fix, we just need to narrow it down
