No lights, won't turn on

Less than two years old. When I plug it in, no lights come on but can hear one slight beep sound.

I have the exact same issue. I have it completely disassembled. Must be electronic problem or the power supply. No fuse in the power supply.

Same problem - on similar model - 53701 Kenmore - won't turn on - no lights at all when I plug it in. Overflow switch tests fine

Same problem - plug in the dehumidifier, nothing lights up - do get a faint beep. Worked just fine last year!

Same thing happening with mine. Problem started a few weeks after I bought the unit. Unplugged it and let it sit for a year. I forgot about the issue and plugged it in and it ran fine. Filled the tank in about 4 hours. Emptied the tank and an hour later it shut off. No lights but a soft beep when unit is plugged. I took it apart to check the fuse and it is fine.

    Any other suggestions?

I had same symptom on DH404EY7, a beep but no lights, and no other noise. Disassembled and checked fuse - was OK and put it back in. Then brushed all the dust from the exposed side of the control and display board (need to first remove the front panel). I noticed there was some corrosion between the solder balls where the 10+ wire harness connects. I gently scratched between the solder balls with a screwdriver and plugged it back in again. I held the power button for about ten seconds. It powered up and gave lights. Indicated ON. Some buttons still don't work but at least it now runs. Can change humidity but can't change fan speed.

You may have the humidity extraction level set to HIGH. Try lowering the humidity extraction level to 35% or if you have an analog unit, turn the control knob to maximum. Also cleaning the air intake filter may help.

Hope this helps you to solve the problem and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Remove the water collection bucket and reinstall it. Make sure the bucket fits "squarely" in the holder from top to bottom. The bottom should not tilt down at the bottom, when it's properly installed.
While you have the bucket out, look in the top of the bucket for a float valve. If it has one, it may be stuck in the UP position. Juggle the float arm to get it to return to the DOWN Position and reinstall the bucket as described above.

Either of the tings mentioned above, will cause the unit to not turn ON.

Hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Trips circuit breaker. when it runs, it does not extract humidity.

this isn't what you want to hear but it sounds like you have a bad compressor . if the unit is less then 1 year old then find a local warranty service and they will fix it for free. If it is older then 1 year old it will cost more to fix then the unit is worth.

It can be recharged but you would first have to locate and fix the leak and then refill. Then add a schraeder valve and refill at the port till suction line is cold to touch and starts to sweat. That's it!

I see others have had the problem I have but where are the solutions you recommend? I have a Maytag M7DH665B2A Dehumidifier that freezes solid and has a corroded sensor that's fallen off the coils.

Hi Bonsia,

Does this unit freeze in warm weather?
How old is it?

You said, I have a Maytag M7DH665B2A Dehumidifier that freezes solid and has a corroded sensor that's fallen off the coils.

My recommendation is replace it!

Here is an interesting article I just read!

.Repair or replace?

When to pull the plug on your old refrigerator

It nearly always makes sense to undertake simple do-it-yourself repairs,
such as replacing a gasket on a refrigerator or a freezer.

Typically, you'll also find a troubleshooting section for more-serious problems
in the owner's manual.

Should you pay for a repair or buy a new model?
The answer depends mostly on the age of your refrigerator,
how much you bought it for,and the cost of the repair.

Follow these guidelines:

When a repair makes sense.

If your refrigerator is under warranty or less than four years old (three years for top-freezers),
paying for a repair makes sense.
Note that refrigerators under warranty might require service from a factory-authorized technician;
readers have found them on a par with independent repairers.

When a repair might be a wise choice.

If your refrigerator is out of warranty and is four to seven years old,
it might make sense to pay for a repair. Customers generally pay $100 to $200 for a repair.
But you might want to buy a new model even at this stage,
given that today's models are quieter and have added features.
Higher energy efficiency is another plus: Energy Star-qualified models made after April 28, 2008,
are 43 percent more efficient than conventional models built before 2001 and 56 percent
more efficient than those built before 1993.

When it pays to replace.

The repair costs more than half the price of a comparable new refrigerator.
Data also shows that it doesn't pay to fix a less-expensive top-freezer refrigerator
six or more years old or a bottom-freezer or side-by-side eight or more years old.

Thanks to better recycling programs, less than 10 percent
of a refrigerator you replace is likely to end up in a landfill.

Slight beep but no action/can't get the back off

I had the same problem (minus the cover issue) . To get the cover off, take off all visible screws. Slide a small screwdriver into the space between the back and the side cover. You will see a slight opening where the tabs fit in, you will need to carefully pry the tabs out. However, most likely your problem is with the front panel. You take the front panel off much the same way. 2 screws are concealed by the bucket. I had the same beep no display, thought it was the main pcb, which I ordered and installed. That did not fix it. I cleaned the display pcb, and jiggled the buttons, that seemed to fix it. I think the button to increase the humidity was stuck closed, as I could replicate the problem by holding that button down and then plugging in the dehumidifier. I would start by cleaning or replacing the front panel pcb, which is about $14.
