Beta 52 not working, need wiring solution

My beta 52 is not working. I can hear sound when i plug it by rubbing the wires but nothing from the mic itself. Now I opened it up and found that 2 of the 3 wires from the 3 pin are not connected at all. Only the red one is connected. Anyone have any ideas what's wrong???

I'm not positive that this is correct as the internal connection diagram isn't included in the manual but Blk= pin1, Blu= pin2, Red= pin3. Hope thats right. Shure gas lots of info on their website www.shure.com

Shure 58 when plug it has no sound

First i would check the cable. If cable seems good I would buy some contact cleaner and try cleaning the xlr pins on the bottom of the mic. Last i would take the set screw out of the side of the mic and carefully remove the xlr assembly. There are 2 wires connected to that and not a whole lot of slack so be careful. Basically make sure they are still soldered on.

Hi,

Please check if the gain in the microphone is open.
Ther's a little hole where you can adjust the gain.

Beta 52 not working, need wiring solution

Normally the the black wire is connected to pin 1, the white wire is connected to pin 3 and the red is connected to pin 2. Sometimes the wires on pin 2 and 3 are reversed so try it both ways.

Recently I dropped my Beta 87A mic and the 2 wires that connect the mic itself came disconnected from the mic. I want to know how to resolder the mic. Thanks in advance. Norbert

I take it they are the wires to the diaphragm not the cable (XLR) connector.Be very carefull when soldering the wires back on. A small solder iron with a pointed tip works best. The positve terminal should be marked with a small red dot.The red wire goes there and the black on the negative. Be carefull and take your time.

Shure beta 58

Benimur, you are correct, except that the Beta 58 is a condenser mic that required phantom power. In that case all 3 lines are used. Included below are the connections.

Mmmm... The wires and the assembly is broken?
Sounds like you might have a trashed mic.
You can try to find a Shure dealer or a good music store to have them take a look at it.
I would suggest getting a new mic cartridge.
If you're interested in selling it, contact me.
