Question about Black & Decker Lawn Hog 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Mulching Mower

Electric mower won't cut well

Hi; I'm trying to help my 88 yr. old father with his lawn mower. Black and Decker MM675. It won't cut well at all, at any height. It is a mulching mower, but the grass that he has been able to cut seems to get clogged under the deck and he is constantly scraping it out. When I tried the mower, it makes a clunking sound when turning off. The motor seems to run fine. Any advice?

Thanks. I presume he has never changed the blade. The mower is 3 or 4 years old.

if the blade is not too bad, meaning not too many chips. you can sharpen it and reinstall. but the new blade is better, it creates more upward left.

while you are taking the blade out, check the deck and clean it if all possible, any dry grass will prevent the newly cut grass from recycle down to the ground.

if the mower has a drive belt, then you need to change that too.

helpful hit: wash the top and the buttom of mower after each cut.

that will keep the mower in sharp.

I have mower that is 15 years old and it cuts like new.

Black&Decker MM675 lawn mower height lever would not stay

I would look in my owners manual and get the part number for the height lever and order a new one. You could also try and wire the height lever so it can not move. I am not sure how it engages but you could may be try and bend the lever so it is tight and won't move. Just a couple of ideas.

Good luck
