Question about Car Audio & Video

1 Answer

Is there a plug in hold in the back of my factory installed 2003 eclipse spyder stero system. I want to hook up a hard wire from the back of the cd player into my MP3 player. I have the cable cord and a place to put it in my mp3 player but wanted to know if there was a input on the back of this stero/cd unit before I got in there trying to find it.

Hi there,

There are 4 possible way to connect your MP3 player on your car stereo.

  1. connect it on the AUX jack on the front of the stereo. (almost newer car has this AUX connections on the front of the stereo.)
  2. Another way to connect the Ipod will be on semi older systems that have stereo AUX in RCA on the back of the unit. (RCA is a connection that looks like the audio for connecting your TV sound and is usually signified by a cable with two ends, one white and one red. In order to successfully hook up your MP3 player to this scenario, you will need to invest in a stereo 1/8" to Male RCA cord at your local Radio Shack.)
  3. Another one option for MP3 playback through your stereo is to use the FM airwaves. They sell FM transmitters at most mass merchant stores like Target & Wal-Mart, as well as online retailers. Decent FM transmitters run in the $20-35 range. The way these work is by plugging the supplied 1/8th cord into the headphone jack on the MP3 player. Then on the FM transmitter you can select a FM channel.
  4. The last decent option for listening to your MP3s is to use a Tape Deck. They make a tape adapter with an 1/8" cord coming out of it that you plug into your MP3 player. Stick the tape in your stereo tape deck and the other end to your player and listen to your tunes flow.
Let me know for further clarifications.

unfortunately the backlighting on these radios is not serviceable, you can attempt to have someone repair the radio, but better off getting a new factory one, wrecking yard one, or going with an aftermarket unit

I need to know how to mount the front license plate on a 2011 eclipse?

You will have to install an after market license plate holder, as Mitsubishi Eclipse spyder does not have a front plate holder. Where you install it on your bumper is up to you , but remember to follow your local laws in regards to placement and the proper amount of screws holding the plate.

I need to get a new battery for my 2003 Eclipse spyder. How do I know what size and type to buy?

don't go to dealeer go to some place like auto sone or pepboys that will guarantee the new battery they will look it up and tell you the proper battery and in most cases they will install it , if they offer let them install it this way everything is under warranty , if you install it they can find ways around the warranty by insisting you hooked it up wrong and various other complications
