Password

The best way is to restore the windows. As soon as the ACER logo apears press "ALT +F10". The system restores automatically.

The BIOS in this laptop is Phoenix, but it makes no difference. There are 3 levels of password  protection in this laptop. Supervisor, user and hard drive. The supervisor password prevents entry into the BIOS utility.  This info for all three levels are stored in a non-volatile storage chip (EEPROM), which means it won't disappear if the battery or anything else is pulled.  The only way to "reset" this is to replace the systemboard.  Most of the laptops (less 5 years old have this) the only other alternative is to see if the F12 boot menu had been enabled.  Hit F12 instead of the F2 on POST...

Ah I believe you're talking about the BIOS password. This can be done a number of ways. All of which will also reset the time on your computer, and will probably change your BIOS settings back to normal. But first! Try "AWARD_SW" and "j262" these are common passwords that come with AwardBios.

 Usually with PCs I find the easiest way is to take it apart, take the CMOS battery out, unplug everything (battery and power cord) and wait about 30 seconds, then reconnect everything.

Most laptops you'll have a hard time getting to the CMOS battery (usually a medium sized button-battery), but if you can this is the easiest solution.

If you can't there's some other ways. There are a lot of bootable programs designed to clear the password from the cmos.
