I bought a toshiba dkt 2020 phone on ebay. It has old numbers programmed in it and only works on speaker phone. I swapped out the phone with another one and now it's doing the same thing. I was trying to setup headset at the time.

I'm having the same problem-- I have several phones that do not have a working hook switch. Is there a way to repair/fix this myself? Or is it something I'm just going to have to pay to have someone fix?

WizThese phones do not store information of any kind. All the programming and memory is in the phone system itself.
The phone only works in speakerphone mode because the hook switch is broken. It is a VERY common problem that will happen to all of these Toshiba DKT2000 series phones at some point. The hook switch starts out just disconnecting calls and eventually will not let you use the handset at all. Unfortunately the problem can actually get worse even when the phone is not in use. That is why buying this series used is dangerous. Make sure the seller has replaced the hook switch and try to get a warranty.

Oh yes,
Just a warranty when buying these used is no good. If the hook switch has not been replaced it WILL need to be repaired. If you are lucky it will break before the warranty ends and the seller will honor the warranty. Regardless you will have the aggravation and expense to ship it back. Make sure the hook switch is new... every time... before you buy it.
