I don't know your particular model but on the machines I'm familiar with, the drain pump was very easy to access once you open up the front cover at the bottom of the unit. It was attached with a bayonet mount and a gasket if I remember correctly. I just twisted a quarter of a turn and pulled it out.

If it is difficult to reach, maybe it is a good idea to pull out the machine and turn it on the side for removal of whatever cover plates it takes to get to the pump.

Make sure to disconnect from mains of course when you are doing things down there, I don't have to tell you this but I did anyway... :)

PS. There are of course also a few hoses and wires attached to the pump that you may have to remove first depending on how it looks.

Then I take it you must mean the drain filter assembly, usually a perforated stainless steel plate with a plastic filter in the middle. In the machines I've encountered this is removed by turning the plastic filter counterclockwise, it is either a bayonet or threaded mount.

Cleaning the filters should be done every other week to maintain good function in the machine, this is also the intake to the high pressure water circuit.

    Good luck!

your better off just replacing the pump. you probably have broken glass or something else stuck inside the pump. to get to it you're going to have to remove the kick panel from the bottom of the machine. just follow the drain hose and you will see the pump.

2 year old stainless steel dishwasher making weird sounds

are u hearing any metal grinding sounds or is it making a noise like something is breaking theres a pump located down the bottom of the unit and depending on how you wash your dishes for example if you wash them before you insert them into the dishwasher or if you put them in with food on them would consitute your next course of action if you do insert them with food on them then you would need to check the pump and the chopper area you might want to call a technician if the problem persists. hope this helps try running it through the full cycle if tere is something wrong you will get an error code

Loud noise

Check for bones/glass/ceramic from chipped plates in the food chopper (for lack of a better term). You'll need to disassemble the entire lower arm unit.

The reason to this problem can be due to the faulty
motor bearing or something stuck in the chopper

My 10 yr old kichenaid dishwasher is making a grinding noise do y

Well a grinding noise could come from any moving part. It could be the wash arm, motor, or pump. Remove the wash arm and clean all that you can reach with a nylon brush. If that doesn't do it, call the repairman.

Dishwasher makes a loud grinding noise when running.

Start by pulling out the lower rack. Then pull the nut off the top of the lower spray arm. then remove all of the visible hex head screws. lift up on this section. this should expose another level of hex head screws, then they should be removed and this section should be lifted up. once you reach the chopper blade, remove the obstruction, and put back together.

Grinding/Rubbing noise?

the unit has a "food chopper" inside the pump sump. it is to chop up "food" items and not bones, seeds or other items. you can keep running the unit and see if after 2 or 3 loads the noise goes away. ie: the item get chopped up small enough to go out the drain.
if it doesnt go away, then you will need to get into the wash pump and see what is stuck in the sump.
its not hard to take apart and you will find whatever shouldnt be in there.
