Question about Samsung CLP-510 Laser Printer

1 Answer

Fuser is too hot....

My CLP-510 was working fine for about 4 months. Then one day I did a print job and after about 1 hour noticed a smell of burning electrical. When I placed my hand on top of the printer it felt very hot! Turned off the printer using the button on control panel but fuser stayed on. Had to unplug printer to stop over heating. Any thoughts on this matter?

Samsung fuser units are very suceptible to voltage variations and get damaged easily. The fuser's thermofuse probably got damaged and became unable to read temperature. The only way to get it fis is to replace the fuser in an Authorized Service Center (ASC). Your unit has a 1 year complete warranty coverage by Samsung and any real ASC without charging you.

After the unit is fixed, get a good transient surge suppresor to help protect the unit. Good luck.

I had a similar issue with my 510. My printer would only print in b&w regardless of my settings in the printer setup. I uninstalled my printer driver and reinstalled a fresh one from disk. This cleared up my issue.

Hi,

It seems more likily that your pickup roller and separation pad has already worn out.

You may want to try pull out your paper tray and remove the pickup roller. Adjust the pickup roller and the paper tray separation pad may help.

next you may want to test with a single sheets of paper to see if the paper jam at the back of the printer near exit. If it does, you will need to replace your fuser too.

you can check the supplier info by going to menu -> system setup -> report -> supplier infor -> print -> yes.

Information below for item that is wear and tear.

1. Fuser - 25K +/-
2. Transfer roller 20K +/-
3. Transfer Belt 25K +/-
4. Pickup roller 20K +/-
5. Image Drum 25K +/-

hope this help :)

Too many things for just one solution, If transfer belt is worn out, you'll get that, color drums can cause that, when the fuser wears out toner sticks and transfers to new prints. You have to unplug machine in the middle of a print cycle before print goes into fuser and determine if the problem is fuser or before

Hello,

It sounds like your fuser is causing the jame,.

when you remove the paper can you wipe the toner off the page or does it adhear to the paper ?

If it does not the fuser is causing the jam, if the toner does not wipe off the paper then the feed tires would be the cause of your jam

The fuser is at the back of the printer and will be very hot, so be careful.

Heat and electrical smell

The smelland heat is probably from the fuser as it gets extremely hot, if the printer's new it might settle down. No you shouldn't have to turn the printer off when not in use.

I've also seen this sort of thing caused by a crusty build-up of toner on a wiiper blade on the Transfer Belt, and or Drum.

Samsung CLP-510 not printing?

Most probably you are using an USB cable that is either too thin (cheap cable) or too long (beyond 6ft.).

Engine Fuser Low Heat Error

there is a 2 wire device (thermistor) that rests against the fuser roller to measure the temperauture. if the fuser is getting quite hot, suspect the thermistor to be either dirty (remove and clean it with alcohol) or defective. if fuser not getting hot, then suspect burned out fuser heater (look inside fuser roller for a long light bulb).
