Question about Sharp AF-S80FX Air Conditioner

1 Answer

Unit keeps shutting off

My air coinditioner runs for a while and then the scren goes blank and it shuts off.  However, the cord is still lit up showing that it is receiving power.  Sometimes I can get it to restart by unplugging and plugging back in, but not this time.  I am having a dinner party tonight and really need it to work.  Please help!

If by "not shut off" you mean the blower keeps running, that is normal operation. The blower only shuts off when the system is turned off.
When in cool or heat mode the room temperature is sensed in the units return air which requires air movement by the blower.

My pilot flame goes out after a short while and the gas shuts off then as it should. Why does the pilot flame cut out so rapidly?

Because she ain't gettin confirmation of ignition.
Your flame sensor is contaminated most likely.
Get a dry brillo pad and clean that dude. Give it the alabama gloss and the mississippi shine then reinstall and retry.
I have 2 links. Old school RobertShaw kanthal Spark/sensor notes and Auto cycling furnace easy fix.

Unit continues to run in emergency heat when shut off.

If you turn tstat off does it still run. If so you have sequencer stuck. Replace sequencer. Also you may ahve abad defrost board out side. When a unit goes into defrost it will bring on heat so you will not get a blast of cold air. Sometimes the defrost board sticks and keps the heat on. Disconnect white wire at outside unit to break circiut. If hat goes off bad defrost board. You can change that yourself. Keep in touch Rus

Flame goes on than out and keeps doing that wont stay lit!!

I'm assuming you're referring to a gas burner that supplements the heat pump. If the burner lights at all, The ignition system is working. If you need to reset it for it to relight, I would suspect the thermocouple. It detects the flame to prevent gas from pouring out of an unlit burner. If it malfunctions, the control thinks the burner didn't light and shuts down for safety.

No power to portable air condition

If the filters are clogh with dirt , the unit breaker will shut it off ,it's avery common problem , but if after the filters were cleaned it keeps shutting off , could be a bad fan motor or the compressor itself could be grounded.

Duo-therm quick cool

Your compressor is trying to restart after it shuts off which is causing a power draw down changing the sound of the fan speed change. Check voltage power supply and insure that the power supply cord is heavy enough to carry the necessary load.
