Sounds to me like it might need a little bit more tension on it. Usually the alternator is the part that can adjust the tightness of the belt. I'm no mechanic but I've done my fair share of working on cars. :) Just a thought.

On most cars there is automatic belt tensioning pulleys and rollers (which can fail of course). The first thing I'd do would be to use a belt spray, this increases belt grip greatly and also keeps the belt in good shape. Available in any auto store.

Good luck!

So how did it go for you after having applied some special belt spray that increase friction? It should have helped greatly to reduce the problems caused by the WD40 which is a no no in these cases.

There is a recurring loud squeak from under the hood. What is it?

May be a worn on loose drive belt that squeaks as the engine idle speeds up as you change gear. Spray the belt with WD40 or similar . If this stops the squeak tighten or replace the belt.

What causes a squeaky sound from the engine of an 2000 Isuzu rodeo when engine is running?

it could be one of the belts. if you put a little wax or brake fluid on the belt in a couple of places and the squeak goes away then you either have a loose belt/s or the belts/s need replacing. if no change it could be the timing belt making the noise.

What is the cause of a squeak in a 1997 GMC sierra while its running it sounds like a belt or belt tensioner but isn't

If your sure it's not a belt then u might wanna make sure the pullies the belts run on are good and tight. Although My dad always kept a bar of soap in his truck for squeaky belts;)

My ford focus zetec makes a rattleing noise

spraying WD40 on drive belts is not a good option as it can cause slippage it is better to use silicon spray or ordinary soap, rub the soap on the belt when the engine is stopped,as for the squeak it could well be the tensioner replace it first it may be the cheapest to start with.....hope this helps....cheers

Very squeaky belt or pully, use to stop when gas pedal applied but now squeaks when gas pedal applied and most idle times. Been using wd40 but doesn't work as good now

1999 probably has a serpantine belt (multi grooved). I would guess that you may have a squeaky belt or more likley a bad bearing in on of the idler pulleys. Remove the belt and spin the idlers by hand. If one feels rough or makes noise replace it.

Kitchenaid DW Door is very squeaky and loud

most likely the hinges are partially rusted through. resulting in all of those sounds. i doubt that you could get anyone to replace the hinges for less money that the cost of a new dishwasher so I recommend replacement.

05 XL-7 I changed my old belts (with no squeaking) now one of the new belts squeaks loud, mostly in the morning when neighbors can hear and give dirty looks, like "get a new belt you incompetent grease...

Take a bar of soap at touch it on the side of belt when it is running. Becareful!!! or spray some WD40 on it. Should stop it. If not it must be something wrong with whatever it is running. If that is a serpentine belt spray it. Soap is good on v-belts.
