-   When I install a new black cartridge, I get an orange "check print cartridge" error message that tells me the cartridge is incorrect for the printer. It's not incorrect. I've tried cleaning, stopping and starting, plugging and unplugging. The same thing happened with my last black cartridge but it ultimately righted itself. This time it won't.

-   I find it very difficult to get the ink cartridges into the printer. Must I use a crowbar? What am I dooing wrong?
-   I have changed both ink cartidges with brand new hp ink 3 times and keep getting the message that ink supply is out and to change cartidges. I have unplugged, cleaned ink heads, held down the 6 and # as one person suggested, and released the latch head several times. Same message--sometimes it says black cartridge, sometimes color cartridge needs replacing.-   Libearian

-   Same problem. Mine error message is with the yellow cartridge. The one I previously had did the same thing with the magenta cartridge. Are these duds or what?-   cottonpatch1

-   Black ink cartridge says empty. I replaced with a new one. But it still says empty. Cleaned it 10 times....not to avail. It prints but not in black. What can I do? Throw it or buy a new one......not brother for sure.-   Guest
Go further into detail. Is it giving you a "check and remove" error, or just not printing? If it is simply not printing, try heating some water up, dampening a paper towel and wiping the print head(*the bottom of the cartridge where the ink comes out) and pressing on the paper towel to get a "foot print". If it is giving you an error, then you might have to update online. The check and remove error can sometimes be solved with online critical updates. If it is telling you cartridge has failed, then the circuits are bad, and you should contact HP. Their cartridges have warranties too
