Hook up dish network

When hooking up my children's TVA yesterday we had no problem with our son's The tv scanned an d found the channel it needed to be on in order for him to watch tv. We have dish. The children share a receiver. It is in our daughter's room. When getting her TV set up, the tv never would find the channel when it was scanning. Not sure why her tv would not recognize the channel while scanning. Not sure what to do.

SOURCE: Cnannel scan detects no channels

Kingscott,
Make sure the cable connection from the dish to the tv is
connected to the antenna/cable input and not the digital
input. Turn on the satellite receiver then auto program the
set with the receiver still on. If this fails to lock in channel
3 your suspicion regarding a faulty tuner could be correct.
A good way to check the tuner operation would be to hook
up another product such as a VCR with the rear switch set
for channel 3 and see if you can receive a picture from this
device. If it works the tuner is OK.
You can bypass the tuner by connecting an S-Video cable
and (or) a set of A/V (yellow, red & white) cables from the
output of the satellite receiver to the video 1 input on the tv.
You'll then have to switch the tv source mode to video 1.
Hope this of some help,
Caseybee

SOURCE: Philips flat tv. Can't get it to hook up to dish

I should be channel 3 or 4. This assumes that this coax cable is coming out as a TV R.F. connection of a Dish Network Box (Satellite Receiver) intended for direct connection to an old fashioned NTSC (channels 2-13, 14-83, possibly even has cable channels depending on how old?) TV.

If this coax is the output of a coax going directly to the Satellite Dish or through what might might look to you like some kind of fancy splitter (called a Multi-Switch) the you WOULD NOT want to hook that to your old NTSC tv. The frequency is too high ... etc. etc... you would need Dish Box (as you call it) a.k.a. a Satellite receiver - with a good and active satellite card from your provider.

SOURCE: no channels found

you could try ant. on the tuner of the television and try to see if it grabs any channels on AIR ..if the scan goes all the way without finding any channels then the tuner of the television is not working. This means the mainboard will have to be exchange or repair..
This company called Amergence Technology is a 3rd party repair center and is able to offer repair services.. they could give you an idea on the repair cost and the process they have in place..

SOURCE: I am setting up my proview pa-32jk1sa, for the

chances are that your reciever is outputting conventional NTSC .. not high def ... so you would scan for standard channels not hdtv .. if chanel selection is done by the satelite reciever then the scan will only find one channel 3 or 4 usually (or better yet you can use Svideo or component oututs if it has them .... if the receiver is a block converter that uses the tv to tune channels then you should get more channels detected ..

We would be happy to help get your picture back. The first thing we want to ensure is that all connected equipment is on.Check what type of cable is used to connect the TV to the receiver. If you areusing a Coax Cable to connect the receiver to TV1, check the receiver'sback panel for the output name. If your receiver has a "TV CH 3/4Out" (non-ViP Receiver): Tune TV to channel 3 or channel 4, backif it is labeled "Home Distribution" (ViP Receiver): Tune TVto channel 62 or 75. If using non-Coax (RCA, Component, orHDMI) to connect receiver to TV1, cycle through the inputs until pictureappears; Most TVs have a "TV/Video", "Input", or"Source" button. We want to ensure that the TV and the receiverare connected properly, please visit this link to for more information:http://www.dishnetwork.com/SupportSection/setup-receiver-totv. Once we havemade sure everything is connected properly, unplug receiver for 10 seconds thenplug it back in, this will reset the receiver. If we are still not getting apicture connect another component (VCR, DVD Player, etc.) to the same TV, usingsame cable, same input, and same channel to see if it works. If you get apicture with the other component give us a call at 1-800-333-DISH (3474) forsome additional troubleshooting. If it doesn't work with the other componentthen replace the cable that was used.

We hope these steps resolve the issue. We want to thank you for being a valuedDISH Network customer!

Hooking up a Coby tv 32" to dish network but it says no signal

"No signal" usually means you are on the wrong input. Look at the back of the TV to determine what plugs were used to hook up the Dish box, it will be labeled nearby (like Video 1, Component 1 or HDMI1). Now find the "Source" or "Input" button on the TV remote (it can also be found on the TV) and set it to the input the Dish box is plugged into.

If you are using the Coax cable (the kind that screws on), go into the menu of the TV and run a "Channel Search/Scan". This will find the channel the Dish box needs to be set to on the TV.

Let me know if this doesn't work.

Hey murphypat321,

Sounds like the TV may need to be on ch 73 cable rather than 60 air. Try switching the TV to 73, if it goes to 69 then put back on 60, if goes to 73 good. Once you have that set go to your TV1 and bring up the menu. Go to System Setup (6) -> Installation (1) -> Modulator Setup (5) and change the TV2 setup to either cable if on 73 or air if on 60 and the picture should come in if everything's hooked up.

Hope that helped! You can email me at thomas.faust@dishnetwork.com if the problem persists.

I have Dish network. I want to record TV onto the VCR, but cannot get channels to record. i can playback videotapes and the record works, but cannot figure out how to get the signal to record.

The output of the Dish Network box should be hooked to the input of the VCR.
The output of the VCR should be hooked to the input of the TV.
The VCR should be on channel 3 to record. Select channel to be recorded on the Dish Network box.

It sounds like you have Dish Network box output hooked to TV input.
& VCR output hooked to an aux. input on the TV.

that tv most likely only has a tuner that goes up to 120 channels. Try rescanning but if it stops at 120 then that's all you can get..

No TV signal

If it's hooked to Dish network, you have a receiver to connect to the TV. If you're using the receiver's RF output on channel 3 or 4 to the TV's antenna jack, you need to have the receiver on while the TV is scanning or it won't add the receiver's output channel. You can rescan channels after you turn the receiver on. If the TV has AV input jacks and you're connecting the receiver that way, you need to switch the TV to the AV input. That may be difficult or even impossible without the TV remote.

Hooking up a tv

Hi first of all are you using scart leads to plug into each device here is how it should be set up ok
1. Scart lead from dish network into vcr
2. then other scart from vcr into tv
3. Now ti recieve the signal from the dish network you need to have the telly on the right av channel so that its picking up the signal from the vcr.
you can test this by changing the channel on the vcr controll or direct via buttons on vcr.
If the channels change then your on the right av channel.
Now when your on right channel on telly you need to now make sure dish network is on and on a channel or press the tv guide button just so you know what your looking for when the picture comes through.
You need to press av on the vcr controll this will then pick up the signal from the dish network via the scart lead as av is the channel for scart lead.
say if you was recording from dish net to vcr you would put the vcr on av to pick up the signal so press av on vcr controll this should then allow you to watch the dish network with no problems.
Let me know if you still cant and ill assist you further if it dont work tell me what you have done so i know how much you have done ok
