CHECK YOUR POWER SETTINGS
1. Right Click your desktop and click properties
2. On properties window click the screen saver tab. Beneath it, click the power button.
3. On the Power Schemes, you can either select the Home/Office Desk or Always On option
4. For the other options below, select NEVER for all of them and click apply.

5. go to the Hibernate Tab and take off hibernate and also click the apply button

Restart your PC and watch out if the problem still persists.

if it dos then you need to download a new Power Management driver or ACPI from HP's website.

If it comes to this pls let us know so we can assist.

Right click on your desktop - go to personalise - select screen saver from the list then power settings from the screen savers tab then go to select what my power button does - change the settings to when I press power button " shut down " Sleep to Sleep and close the lid " do nothing " then select ok - after that look on the L/H menu and select " when my monitor turns of and adjust your power setting there to suit yourself but preferably under a/c power make it never never - then observe the unit - make your battery selections staggered like turn the screen off after 10min - hdd after 20min. If it still does go to sleep you have a power chip problem - again manufactured by nvidia.

It may be the default power settings?

You can check these in Control Panel - Also check your power settings in the tray on your start bar.

Go into your power settings and disable sleep or hibernate mode. It's OK to have the screen blank after a period of time. Make sure you make this setting under AC power and ensure the laptop is plugged in to wall socket.

Unfortunately, this is a standard problem, as when your laptop goes into sleep mode, it shuts off power to the secondary monitor, without giving it the signal to go into sleep mode. You could try digging around your settings, but most likely you'll just need to turn off the monitor when you're not using it.

Monitor going to sleep problem

  • Hi, The Monitor as well the Computer have "Power Saving Modes," [Sleep, ScreenSavers, and Hibernation]; so what you want to do is "Change the way the Computer / Monitor Sleeps!" From the Desktop Screen, click on the "Start Button," next in the [Start Search Window], type: power. In the next [window] that opens, you should see, from your point of view; a "list" in the (left column) "Change when the computer sleep, the wording may be different, but it will be clear enough. Now all you have to do is change the way the Computer and Monitor "Sleep, or Turn-off." If the Monitor have its own "settings;" just find them by the [button on the monitor], and do the same thing as above; but I'm sure the computer will take care of both. If this solution to the problem was of help? Let me know by giving a "Helpful Rating", thanks, and have a "Great Memorial Day!"

Backllight turns on when starting computer and

I presume that every time you move your mouse that the backlight lights up but without video. If this is the case, you have a faulty Tcon on the LCD.
If on the other hand the backlight goes out and stays out regardless of mouse action, you have a faulty invertor circuit.
