With MBR I assume you mean master boot record.

  1. Restart your computer with the Windows XP Setup disk in the CDROM drive.
  2. If you are prompted to press a key to start the computer from CDROM, do so quickly. Otherwise it may try to boot from the hard drive.
  3. after a few minutes, you'll see a prompt to press the R key to start the Recovery Console.
  4. When Recovery Console starts, it will prompt you to enter a number corresponding to the Windows XP installation that you need to repair. In most cases,
  5. you'll enter "1" (which will be the only choice). If you press ENTER without typing a number, Recovery Console will quit and restart your computer.
  6. Enter your Administrator password. If you don't enter the correct password, you cannot continue. You can leave it blank if you don't have one.
  7. At the Recovery Console command prompt, type fixmbr and then verify that you want to proceed.

Your MBR will be replaced with a new one, and you should then be able to start up normally. In some cases, you may need to repair the boot sector in addition to the MBR. If your system still doesn't boot properly, repeat the steps above, but issue the fixboot command instead.

Exit, quit, restart or reboot command should get you out from the console

If the problem is still not solved, use the windows xp setup disk to do a new installation of windows, if it finds your old windows version from the hard drive you may repair it with the repair option (not the same as above)

My acer aspire 5515 laptop system error window show when I try to boot. Hiw do I fix it?

so what i guess its giving mbr not found and its not booting , the solution is you need to have the windows operating system disk and then when your acer laptop starts to boot click on f8 then click on repair windows then after that you will see 3 option click on the third it will say repair cmd then type as what is given below

Click on the "Repair Your Computer" option to gain access to the System Recovery window. Now choose "Command Prompt" to run the Bootsect.exe utility. Bootsect is located inside the boot folder so change your directory to boot. Now run "bootsect /nt60 C:\" (without quotes) if you had Windows 7 initially installed in the C partition. Alternatively, you can run "bootsect /nt60 SYS" or "bootsect /nt60 ALL" (without quotes) to repair the system partition or all partitions. Eject the DVD and restart your computer. Your computer should now boot Windows 7 again.

Do you have a USB drive attached or a disc in the dvd drive that may be causing a problem?
If not your MBR may be damaged.
You can fix this with a windows disc, just google "fix MBR"
