BMW 650 Tail Light Problem

If you find that your BMW 650 CS/GS/Dakar tail light doesn’t work at all or flickers when riding, chances are the metal power terminals inside the bulb socket are no longer making a good connection with the metal bumps on the tail light bulb. This is a very common problem with the BMW 650 of all makes, models, and years. Fortunately, there is a very easy fix.
Due to excessive vibration, temperature changes, and replacing light bulbs, the two metal power terminal tabs inside the tail light socket deform and get pushed too far back inside the tail light chassis. This prevents the tail light bulb from making good contact with the power terminals and the smallest vibrations can cause the electric connection to break temporarily or indefinitely.

To fix the problem, all you need to do is pry the two metal power tabs forward just a little so that they make a better connection with the metal bumps on the tail light bulb. If you look at the back of the bike, the red tail light casing on the 650 CS/GS/Dakar is held in place with two screws. If you remove these screws the red tail light casing comes off and you have access to the light bulb inside. At this point, turn the ignition on, but you don’t need to start the bike. Remove the light bulb by pushing in and twisting clockwise about 1/8 turn. If the bulb flickered while removing it, then the bent power terminals are most likely the cause.
Looking at the tail light bulb you should see two metal bumps. These bumps need to make a good connection with the two metal power terminals inside the tail light casing. Turn the ignition off and find a small tool that you can use to pry the power terminals forward just a bit. Make sure the bike is off and you don’t want the power terminals tabs inside the tail light casing to touch.
After you have made the adjustment, turn the ignition back to “on” and re-insert the taillight bulb. If the bulb is lit, then you are done. If it still flickers a bit and doesn’t stay lit, then you will need to continue prying the tabs forward until a good connection is made.

I have a 2008 aveo. i took off the headlight but i can not get the plastic casing off to change the bulb.

If you are talking about the headlight casing, where the clear headlight casing connects to your back headlight casing, that isn't the way to change the light bulb, you're going to damage the seals that protect water, and humidity.

How do i change the brake light on jeep liberty 2006?

1) You will need to open the rear swing door.

2) On the inside jam there are two torx headed screws (T-15's if I remember correctly).

3) Unscrew the two torx screws.

4) The light is now held by two mounting tabs (small spherical headed plastic sets that go through a rubber grommet).

5) You will need to pry the light casing off (easy pressure with a good size flat head screw driver will do the trick).

6) The light bulbs are twist mount settings inside the light casing.

7) Twist out the mount setting, change the bulbs, and reset the light mountings.

8) To put the light casing push the light casing back on and put in the screws. Everything else will work in reverse when it comes to assembling the whole unit.

How do you remove headlight bulb on mercedes 1997 sl? Have already opened the plastic cover, unplugged electrical wires, unscrewed collar. How does the bulb come out?

all you have to do is pull at this point. sometimes they get a little "stuck" in there so move up and down until the bulb comes loose. be sure not to touch the new bulb with bare fingers. if you can, get latex gloves to do this. simply install the new one reversing all the steps you already told me. cheers

I can't get the headlight casings out of my 1997 Ford Explorer to allow a bulb replacement. Any guidance? Thanks.

Don't take the casings out,

Locte the center rear of the casing, you will see a plug there.

Unscrew/remove the plug. The small light is there.

When you replace, DO NOT touch the bulb. A small fingerprint can reflect enough light to burn up the bulb .

Jeep cheorkee 2003 how to replace left side tail light bublb

Hi. Here is a guide to help you with the bulb exchange.

Step11.- First turn the ignition off, next open the trunk, you will noticeon each side to the left and right next to the light case 2 plasticscrews, some older models might have regular screws, they secure thelight case to the body of the truck. Step22.- Let's start with the left side, the plastic screws will have anopening on the side, make sure they are facing you and when you putthem back make sure they'll face you too, insert the flat thinscrewdriver into the opening and push up with not much force in such away that you'll be able to pull it out with your own fingers, just usethe screwdriver to push up a little bit and finish by pulling it outwith your fingers. Step33.- Remove the 2 crews while holding the light case, remove the lightcase with care, you'll notice that it will be attached to the body by 2plastic pins, they'll will come out by pulling the case out do not usetoo much force, hold the case with both hands and make yourself comfortable and when you're ready pull, try little force first and increase it as needed, this is to avoid damaging the parts. Step4 j0163080_thumb.jpg 4.- Once is out look at the wiring at the back of the light that holdsthe light bulb, you'll have to turn it counterclockwise a little to beable to retrieve the bulb, turn first and then pull out with care, remember when changing the bulbs not to touch the new bulb itself withyour fingers it may shorten the life of the bulb if you do so, pull outthe bulb, insert the new one. Step5 5.- For the other side follow the steps from 2 to 4. Step66.- Now just follow the instructions in reverse to put back all thepieces, insert the socket, turn it clockwise, make sure it's secure, hold the light case with both hands looking that the pins are alignedto their openings, push them back make sure they are in and finallysecure the case to the body with the plastic screws, remember that theyhave to face you so it'll be easier to remove for any future light bulbchanges.

Please rate and god bless.

How do you replace the third brake light bulb on a 2004 Hyundai Accent 2dr hatchback?

It's not impossible people! You will however need more than just a screwdriver.
This is for a 2004 Hyundai Accent 3 door (i.e. Hatchback)
Open the rear door to get to the stop light assembly. Directly under (or above now that the door is open and it is upside down) the light case is a small rectangular panel that you can snap out using a flathead screwdriver.
Once removed you should see 4 hex bolts. Remove these (a ratchet is the easiest way to go) and you should be able to pull the light case free of its mount. NOTE: You will notice two pegs or tabs helping to keep the case in place, a bit a wiggling may be needed to free them.
Once it is hanging free, you will need to remove the 6 screws on the bottom holding the case together. With these removed the back should come off and you can get to the bulb.
The replacement bulb I purchased was a Sylvania Long Life number 921. Pull the old bulb out (it may need some force/wiggling but be careful not to break it), and slide the new bulb into place. I would recommend checking that the new bulb is functioning at this point, while everything is still disassembled.
If everything is working... then replace the bottom cover, replace the 6 screws, slide the whole case back into place, replace the 4 bolts, and finally snap the panel cover back into place.
This whole process should take no longer than 20 minutes.
Hope this helps... Cheers!

You need to remove the front panel of the TV. If you look at the picture above, this panel is the light gray piece on the bottom of the tv. It is attached with plactic connectors. Just poo it off and then you will see a metal panel with some screws. remove the panel and then you will see the light buld casing. Pull it out and replace it with the new light bulb casing. If you did not purchase a new light bulb casing and bought just the bulb, you will need to take the casing apart and replace the bulb. Make sure to mark the wires so you will know where they should be connect to the new bulb.
