Prying it out is the only way I know of. When you get it partially out you may be able to get hold of it with waterpump pliers or regular slip-joint pliers adjusted for a wide grip, and pull it the rest of the way out. They are made to be removed this way, so it shouldn't be damaged. If you push in the button and the light remains lit your refrigerator section may not be getting cold, because a bad door switch can send out a signal that the refrigerator door is open, in which case the freezer may not be blowing cold air into the refrigerator section. The door switches are fairly cheap online, especially compared to a service charge.
Why not try the dealer selling V - lec aircon? They are in the best position to know where to get the replacements or clone remote controller for your unit. Better still try surfing the internet, V-lec Aircon may have a web site to service their clients. May this info, help you.
No, you dont need to touch the temperature control knob. You access the lamp and lampholder from underneath. Get a small thin screwdriver, slide it up the left-hand-side of the opaque plastic (that allows the light to shine through into your fridge). Prize it down, it is not brittle so it should not snap. the opaque cover will come out and the bulb is right there to unscrew. the cover goes back in easier than it comes out, so just reverse the process. Make sure you isolate power to the fridge before you begin.
