Hi I had 2 datamax printer. One is quite old and another is recently bought. My old printer is used for testing purpose and I currently testing a 3.5 inch label.
My problem is my old printer always display top of form error when I change into a 3.5inch label. However, its works well with label of bigger size. I tried all kind of calibration and adjustment but the problem persist.
However, if i change to my new printer and use it to test the 3.5 inch label. It works fine without any adjustment.
It sounds like you may not have the latest firmware. You should go to the Datamax website and download the latest firmware revision for your printer. http://www.datamaxcorp.com/software/ If it's not available on the website, you can call Datamax with your CID# and serial number and ask them to send you the latest firmware for that printer. This should hopefully clear up your problem.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

1. The printhead in your printer might be scratched (evidenced by thin white streaks through your print). This is common, and the most likely cause. Printhead must be replaced. 2. Material might be stuck on your printhead (usually evidenced by wide white streak vertically through print). Printing surface of printhead can be cleaned with rubbing alcohol and cotton ball. 3. The ribbon might be wrinkling due to uneven tension, producing intermittent diagonal streaks in your print. This is somewhat common, but doesn't fit your description as well as 1 & 2 above. Mechanical adjustment and/or proper media loading solves ribbon wrinkles. 4. Poor pressure and/or printhead alignment. Evidenced by grainy, light or no print on one side or the other of the media. This is somewhat common, but doesn't fit your description as well as 1 & 2 above. Mechanical adjustment solves printhead pressure and alignment issues.
It will read and print the label format, but you need to download and choose a different driver for the other printer. Seagull Scientific makes the drivers for Datamax, so visit their site for the most recent versions. you will need to open your label format in your software, duplicate the label format and choose the new driver for the I-4212.
Puedes utilizar comandos DPL e instalar una impresora generica, o generar un archivo PDF y utilizar un controlador de windows para DATAMAX.
DPL commands you can use and install a generic printer or generate a PDF file and use a Windows driver for Datamax.
The way you can do this is to use Datamax fonts in your LabelMatrix program instead of truetype fonts like arial or times new roman. After making this change, do a test print and see if print improves. Another possible solution is use USB instead of Parallel cable (if you're not using it already).
Hi Its worth checking that you are using the latest drivers. You should be able to get these from the Datamax website. Also check the printer set up, gap sensor etc. Also check the media is loaded correctly. Hope this helps. Regards Stu www.labelzone.co.uk
