Question about Intellinet Active Networking (520638) Router

2 Answers

Wireless connection We are no longer able to access the internet from our laptop through the router. We have a speedstream ss2624 router. I can still access it through the LAN, but none of the other computers in the house can. The message is "Limited or no connectivity" with a strong signal. Also when trying to repair the connection it returns and indicates "unable to aquire new ip address"Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Wireless connection

I finally hit it. I tried dial up and LAN and same fault. Turned out that somehow, through our protection software, internet traffic was halted. Just needed to open it back up.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

Re: Wireless connection

Was there any power outages, or anything that would make the modem and router turn off and then back on?

Try this:

Do this:
(in this order)

  1. Turn off the router.
  2. Turn off the modem.
  3. take out all the Ethernet cords from the router, EXCEPT the one coming from the modem
  4. Now turn the modem on.
  5. Wait for the lights, then wait about another minute for it to settle.
  6. Turn on the router, make sure the Internet,Lan,Wlan, etc lights are on and functional if it doesn't display a light let me know.
  7. Now depending on what your wireless network (SSID) is called try to connect to it. Go to Start>Network>Click Network And Sharing Center at the top>on the left select Manage Wireless Networks>now click add, if your network is already on the list shown select it and click remove otherwise click "Add" click "add network in reange of this computer" select your network name and click connect.

On the back of the wireless router will be a little black button some can be hard to see but they all have one somewhere pressing this button for 5 seconds will force the wireless router to reset and remove all password and configurations that was set by the user of yourself after this has been reset you will need to log into your wireless router by either looking at the faint writting or something similar to this or by the ip "internet Protocols" and re-setting up the encryptions and security along with the passphrase for the wireless

Hi! There will be a problem with the wireless connection. I suggest before you go to windows 7, check at your router website if there is a new update for the firmware for windows 7.

Connected but cannot access internet

If you have a good IP address, re-boot the router. If your address starts with 169., then you don't have a good IP address.

Router Help

Either get the person you got the router from to give you the pass phrase or try accessing the link on this site to get a manual

The instructions to reset the router will probably set the entire router back to the factory default configuration. After which you will need to configure any changes required by the ISP into your router.

Dougerus -- you might be able to help Robbyn by telling her what your manual says about resetting the router. In your case are you following the instructions to reset the router completely? CHECK THE MANUAL you may need to hold the reset button for several seconds for a reset. A short push might only reboot and not reset the router.
