A5 measures 148 × 210 millimeters or 5.83 × 8.27 inches. In PostScript, its dimensions are rounded off to 420 × 595 points.
You should be able to select A5 size in the Epson software, but above is a small idea of the sizes in case you have to setup manually, once you get it setup correctly then save it as a profile in the Epson software. If you are printing A5 then you need to make sure it is in landscape mode (if you are printing more than 1 page) if it is actual A5 sized paper or Photo paper then make sure gauge is moved on printer to the size of the medium being used.
Yes, 5100 means the carriage is not moving back and forth properly or there is grease on the encoder strip behind the carriage assembly. Grease spots make it lose count and slam into the side and grind gears. You need to clean the strip with a Q-tip moist with alcohol, but very carefully, not too much pressure on the strip.
1. Try to reset the ink counter by iptool software (sometimes it help)
2. Unplug the usb cable and then turn off and on your printer for a few times.
service error 5100 seems like indicating of mecanism exhausted or out of buffer ram in the printer. You should reduce the amount of pages to print at one time.
5100 = a carriage error *** ALWAYS DISCONNECT POWER FROM WALL BEFORE WORKING ON MACHINE***
Check the timing strip for contamination(plastic strip about 1/4" in width). The unit is not homing, check for obstructions. Clean the inside, check your ink cartridges and make sure they are properly installed ( if not they may stop the carriage from moving properly) and then turn off and back on.
I had this eror. It was caused by indexing error left to right.Would print some then cancel after starting to make clunking and left to right error gets to large.(white edge up the side of full page print). There is a toothed print head carriage drive belt and a clear indexing strip above the heavily white greased bar behind print head carriage. If this clear indexing strip gets grease or anything else on it the print head cannot index. With print head at full right position, power off, I carefully wiped the clear strip by pinching between clean dry fingers and wiping up and down the strip a few times, maybe use cotton wool buds and IPA or methalated spirit if you can't get your fingers in there without breaking the strip. then with power on print head in change cartridge position, push carriage to far left and wipe right side of clear strip.I pushed carriage full left to right a few times,Then ran print head alignment.Fixed without taking apart.
Error code 5100 /this error is an error within the printer. This error means that there is
something obstructing the printing process. Check inside your printer through the gears that
you can see under the lid. There should be something obstructing the gears such as dirt or
in my case popcorn. Check VERY thoroughly.
This machine will only print certain sizes as borderless. A5 is not one of them.
You can use the following media with this feature:
Matte Paper - Heavyweight: A4, Letter
Premium Glossy Photo Paper:A4, Letter, 5 x 7", 10 x 15 cm/4 x 6", 8 x 10"
Premium Semigloss Photo Paper:A4, Letter, 10 x 15 cm/4 x 6"
Glossy Photo Paper:Letter, 10 x 15 cm/4 x 6"
As you can see A5 is not in the list, therefor you will not be able to print A5 borderless via the normal means.
