I cannot get the CD Rom to eject, so I can burn a CD.

There should be a small pin-hole on the laptop's DVD drive. Find a needle or a paper clip and push it into the pin hole. This should either manually eject the disc or pop open.

If you do not have a pinhole on your DVD drive, go to My Computer > DVD Rom Drive

Right click on your DVD Rom Drive, and click "Eject".

This should remove the disc.

is there a little hole on the cd rom drive?
if there is one in front of it you can use a small paper clip and insert it in the hole.
push straight in and not at a angle and the tray should eject.

Have you tried the eject button from the tray? If all that you need is a tool to eject the tray without touching the tower, I suggest you to go to this link and download the Eject-CD freeware runtime file EjectCD.exe - approx 30kB. Alternative if your tray is locked and can not open with the above methods, you have to locate a small hole in the front panel of the tray and put into that hole something like a connector (for papers) or a strong wire in order to push the internal system to open.

What i did is to get a external cd drive

If you have to ask "HOW" to disassemble your laptop, in order to remove and replace the hinge, then STOP, and take the computer to a qualified technician, who can safely make the repair.

There should be a small hole in the front, use a paper clip and push into the hole to eject tray mannualy. The cause of the tray not ejecting is that the belt from the motor that ejects the tray is worn, need to change it.cheers.

clean the lens of your rom, through lens cleaner cd, check the cd's on others system, if they are reading well then its the problem of ROM
